Sorry to rear the head of this topic again! It's still not right...

New pads (just in case...) had the carriers off the front and cleaned out the profiles the pads sit in (had painted them, thought they might be jamming the pad motion, yes, clutching at straws here), but no different.

Just a big bump really, see get some fresh eyes on it and see if anyone else had this problem and sorted it? Or was fine without a servo?

A bit concerned the only reply from somebody without a servo was with the same problem...I can't believe the calipers are that flexible though...

Can anyone link me to a guide on how to bench bleed the master cylinder? I'll probably wait and drive it before I go at it again, but if it's no good I'm going to strip it out and start from scratch...

Also thinking about it, the MC cap was open for a few days when I first had this problem...the fluid was new but anyone think a couple of days with the cap off is enough to knacker the fluid?

why dont you pump the pedal three times slowly hold it down and then undo the brake pipe at the mastercylinder hold a cloth round it pipe, then you should hear the air coming out tighten it up and move to the next link until you have reached the calipers you may find it works after that.
have you small air bubbles in the brake reservoir?

No bubbles in reservoir at all...

I'll give the union bleed method a go. Somebody else mentioned it a while a go, but back then I had a big list of things to get thru and I don't understand how it could help, but I'm getting desperate now!

cheers

when you bleed the cylinder on the bench you make pipes to fit into the reservoir the fluid just goes around until the air is out. if you open a joint the air can escape leaving you with super pedal pressure. and it works.

I'd agree, vertical cylinders are good at trapping air. Stick a blanked off connector on the master cylinder if you want to eliminate the prospect that it's faulty, with nowhere to send the fluid it should be rock solid.
