Just got back from W&P and thought I'd show you guys a few photos og the rather lurvely Margrave 50....

Also saw the rather lovely Juju...who rather kindly told me I had no air in my tire, to which she was met my mouthful of cheese sandwich!! Sorry bout that...

Anyways, I have more photos, of the cars that were there if anyone wants me to upload them. Unfortunately, the only mini worse than poor little holly was the one for sale in the corner for Ā£300... bless...

Anyways, here they are (the last one is REALLY embarrasing  )

Enjoy!

Ok here we go. We parked behind the rather lush grey Mk1. which I found rather exciting...
The interior is from a clubby that was rather delicious, but my shoddy camera work made all the photos of that blurrrrry.
The pickup is longer thn standard pickups, it was a lush blue colour and was...well...nice...
And the grey van had W&P sign writing on the side. The were a fair few minis there and it was nice as the vast majority were in fantatic condition. Also...free tea and biscuits!!! Enjoy!

Also..how could i forget...
The Margrave 50 is definately happening with a MAXIMUM of 50 being made. There are 5 orders already in (3 are in the UK 1 in Dublin and 1 in Athens). In a weekly classic car mag, there was an article about the W&P 50, and the reporter wrote to BMW to see what they thought of it all, and they said that they wished W&P all the luck in the world, and they don't mind as it is a very limited run, for a very special occasion (see...there not that bad...)

Anyways, W&P have ordered 5 more shells from BMH so there will be these mini's out there (They're after number plates WP09 MIN etc) so that will be cool! The only reason 50 won't be made in the year (should there be the demand for it) is BMH, as they CAN make the shells that fast, but they don't make enough money on them for them to stop making midget and TR shells etc. So it's down to BMH (who also back the project)

Also, if BMW get on their high horse and say that they don't want this being made, they W&P will buy some sportspacks and give them the Margrave 50 treatment. Can't wait!!!!

Nice one for the pics, Newbambeano. Saves me uploading mine.

You should have introduced yourself properly, even if it was with a mouthful of cheese sarnie  . I didn't want to see you hurtle out of there with a flat, anyway.

Another TMFer was there too. They yelled some gibberish at me just before they zoomed off home. I have no idea what your name is, I'm sorry. Again, you should have introduced yourself properly!!

After most people had left a trailer turned up with another WP cabriolet. The guy had just bought it 2 weeks ago. Apparently it used to belong to George Hamilton. The owner drove all the way from Bristol just to stay for about half an hour!

I presume from the posepack arches it is going to have clod-hopping 13" wheels. Shame.

Bit like a curvy lady, in a sexy dress, wearing workboots!

I also made it to the W & P Margrave 50 preview today in Leatherhead. I just managed to park my MINI outside the workshop area before loads more Minis arrived to completely fill the narrow road and car park. I was hoping to bring my classic Mini along but the MOT had just run out, so I won't bother renewing it now until after the winter months and salted roads are all over.

The red painted Margrave BMH shell certainly looked superb as did the new showroom and reception area. The Margrave 50 is to be built to the final MPI Sportpack spec with full W&P Margrave leather dash and interior, etc. All the W&P Mini's on display inside and outside are a credit to the time and effort Mike and his team must have made, especially only a few days after taking over the building next door to his original workshop.
Freddie St George of The Italian Job Charity Run made a speech and officially opened the new Wood & Pickett Heritage Centre by cutting the Union Jack ribbon across the showroom entrance at about 11.30am.
W & P owner Mike Standring also made a speech and thanked everyone who helped and for coming along today.
(The WP Centre will offer Club and Enthusiasts Meeting Venue; Unique Minis on Display; Parts and Accessory Sales; Car Sales; Servicing and MOT Facilities; Complete Restoration Facilities; Large Car Park; Warm and Friendly Atmosphere; Helpful Advice and Lots Moreā€¦..)

After having some of the free coffee and biscuits, Mike showed my brother and I around his workshops where several Minis were in various states of repair/restoration and told us he hopes the new centre will become the start/finish point for some Mini runs, etc. He agreed it would be really good if someone could revive something like the 'Mole Valley Mini Run' which used to start from Leatherhead and head off into the rural lanes of Surrey each year. It used to be a fun driving event and prizes were sponsored by W&P until a few years back but like most road based events it took a lot of planning and organising by volunteers each year.

An interesting morning, good to meet you Juju, and thanks for your help. Hopefully they'll get lots of orders.

On the subject of the Mole Valley Mini Run, I've done it a couple of times and it used to be one of my favourites, would be good if someone could start it up again, W&P would be ideal as a start/finish point.

Sorry I didn't introduce myself properly, Laura and I were discussing the proper way of doing it, without sounding stalkerish! Anyways, your clubby looks cool...lucky you being allowed to keep it there!
PS (I'm Adam :( )

Hehehe... That was "Stretch" and I was in the passenger seat. We were walking around with our local club. I was wearing a black cap, glasses and a week old stubble and a camera constantly in my hand! We were walking around and said to each other, "Was that Juju? From the miniforum?" We shrugged and then you so happened to be taking pics! So Stretch yelled out! But is mini is so damn loud and so was the other one we were with!

Was a nice morning... although i was pretty much wrecked from the previous night. The place looks so good and my mates and I were drooling over their workshop, leaving a trail pretty much everywhere.
