Anyone else coming to the Wood and Pickett Heritage Centre Grand Opening on Saturday 15th November at 11:30am? He says he's expecting about 100 minis and it would be good to meet anyone from TMF
One of the highlights will be (quote) 'the unveiling of our new project - the building of the brand new 09 registered WP Margrave 50'. Not sure if there will be a prototype or just plans.
The newly painted shell will be centre stage, hopefully with some other bits assembled too!
I'll be there. And I might even wear a frock for the occasion.

but 25k,... I guess it's a kit car price for a kit car like product,....
Not sure how i feel about it. Fair play I guess!
One thing's for sure, it's about time W&P flexed their muscles a little more like they are now,.. they used to be top banana with all the lovely unique dashes and interior + body styling they used to do 20 odd years ago,.. but it seems they got stuck making rubbish flat dashes and the same old arches with nothing unique about them. flacid.
Thumbs up for doing something different W&P and getting back to your roots.
now,... where's my pipe and slippers.

I'd love to think that it's a great idea,... but the supposed 25k price tag is just obscene..... you could spend 25k on a car that handles better, goes faster, costs less to run, and requires less maintenance.... admittadley the car would historically represent a lot less and not have anywhere near the same grin factor as our beloved little minis (goes all fuzzy inside)

Weeeeeeeeeeell, in my research of the past couple of weeks trying to get a bit of W&P history together for a display, I found out that the company was pretty much run into the ground in the late eighties by Henlys (a BL franchise for those that don't know them).
Prior to this, after the 70s, the Luxury Mini Market wasn't really the focus of the company at all. Most of their income was from customised range rovers, landies, limos, metros and (heaven forfend) maestros. They even did a hearse & a TR7. Some of it really is nothing to be proud of....but that's all down to customers with more money than taste....
It was only after Mike Bush acquired the company (if only in name) in 1989 that the mini accessories were once again flowing into the market. The current MD, Mike Standring, took over in 2000, but it is only recently that he has decide to rediscover the original focus of W&P. The brand has been dormant for a while. I think it might awake from its snoozing soon.

Yes, Juju often does that. She doesn't know why.
