Hi guys,

Im looking for anyone connected with or with knowlege of the Morspeed company.

I have a friend in Finland who baught an engine nearly a year ago and has seen nothing!

They have called and called being given nothing but excuses. They paid 4k and have not had their money back!!

The person who baught the engine is not to be messed with so i would advise Morspeed to contact them before its to late.

This type of sales tactic is giving the car scene and the internet a bad name

Please can anyone with any info please help me out.

I would be gratefull for any info. [email protected]

Thanks

We have had a recent thread on this forum concering morspeed. Unfortunately, I am not going to point you to that thread as I do not want to open up any further comments as the matter as now become that serious, that court action is been taken by the people againist morspeed.

I suggest that you contact morspeed in writing asking them for acknowledgement of the order your friend placed, the cost and payment (if allready paid or deposit left) and a date of completion within the next 14 days. Send this letter by recorded and signed for post. IF you want to make it official, goto a solicitors and get them to send a letter on your behalf. There will be a charge for this, but it is normally the best pratice of getting something achieved.

Id take the solicitors route, then if no corrospondence or engine within the time allocated, then your solicitor can advise the next stage to proceed with.

Also advice to your friend about not been messed with. I wouldnt make any threats or comments to morspeed at this stage as it is doing nothing for your friend, morspeed, getting the engine or your money back. It will just cause more hassle and drag this out futher.

A year is long enough to prepare, source parts and build any engine, so they have no excuses.

Best of luck
Jordie

If your friend is really lucky then he bought the engine with a credit card, and can claim the money back through them.

Hi Jordie, Thanks for the friendly advice.

I would like to set the record straight i did not mean to sound like i was making a threat or harm to anyone, i meant my friend would go through the legal route. after all we are all human.

I will be seeing a solicitor in this matter and take it through to the legal outcome.

My friend realy wanted the engine as he is building some sort of race mini as a hobby project.

I appologise if i gave the wrong impression.

Thanks
for your help.

Hi Guys...

I am in a similar position. Located in Bahrain in the Arabian Gulf...
I ordered my parts in early 2006.. Sent him a crank to get worked on.. After many attempts finaly got it in July 2007.. Along with part of my order for the 16v conversion.

Till now I have not recieved the balance of parts... Connecting rods with Arp bolts, head gasket, Omega pistons, 16v exhaust manifold, intake trumpets.
Had a friend visit him about a month ago and he told him that he sold my bits to someone else.
I actually recieved an email from him.. His excuse is that he makes more money from "big money engine builds" so he is not selling parts anymore.
He told me he was going to send me the balance... Which you can imagine is not a small amount of change... Still not recieved anything. Doenst reply to emails or phone messages.

Its been over two years since I ordered the bits.

I am going to put a claim in the small claims court. You can do it from abroad online... www.moneyclaim.gov.uk
Luckely a cousin is a solicitar in the UK so she will be helping me with the mater.

I hope that anybody thinking about placing an order with this guy thinks twice about it.

Oh and the turbo crank I had sent to him to be fully worked... came back wedged and regrind only.. Ripped me off on that aswell,.

Please take care!

Cheers
Tareq

Having been in a similar situation myself (though not with a company) I really do feel for you guys. I'd love if TMF could help in some way, either put pressure on Morspeed to sort these problems out, or educate people about the problems you guys are facing. Unfortunately it could be a legal minefield for us, so if anyone has any ideas I'm all ears.

It doesn't matter where you are, if the agreement was made in the UK then it's subject to UK law. Don't delay if you're successful you can claim interest on outstanding money.

Here are some pics of the "fully worked" crankshaft.

No crossdrilling to be seen, not balanced and not hardened. Charged me for everything.. Plus took over a year to get it back

This guy is a rip off merchant.

I had problems with my Morspeed order but i luckily recieved my whole order. It took them about 10 months to bore my block, grind my crank and supply me with a set of pistons and that was after sending at least 10 emails complaining. I got a letter with my parts explaining that they didnt know why it had taken so long and they where embaressed etc.... and for good measure gave me a free rocker cover!! I then decided to let them build me a gearbox thinkng that the long wait was a mistake and it wouldnt happen again. I paid for a SC/CR gearbox up front and was told he'd get it to me asap. 6 months later i was still waiting!! It eventually turned up but it was the final straw and i would never use them again.

In all fairness however i cannot fault his work, i think he just takes on more work than he can handle.

Daniel
