i can get hold of quite a bit of petrol deisel mix from work
its only about 10% deisel so would i be able to run it in my mini as its got a carb and there are no injectors to fuggle
it was drained out of a deisel vehicle with twin fuel tanks (so there is a lot) and according to the lady who filled it up the fuel light had been on for a while before she brimmed it with bp ultimate (an expensive mistake)

If you dont want it i will lol, obviously it will not be good for the engine, it will probably smoke from the exhasut a bit, and not do the engine any favours, but if you dont mind about the engine use it, if not ill happly take it off you lol.

My mini smokes enough already as it has a blown ring, so not something i would care about to be honest lol.

ran my old MK1 (metro 1275) on diesel petrol mix for about 3 weeks once after one of the lads at work put £65 unleaded in our landrover :dontgetit:

was ok smoked a bit you had to pull the choke out a little when you stopped or it would stall

clean the plugs every week for 3 weeks lol

but cheap running saved me £40 (mate had some to in his nova)

no adverse side effects that i noticed afterwards :dontgetit:

I would run it without question. Have done several times in the past with no ill effects, and it was usually a good bit more than 10% diesel too.

I have also done this; we used to get a few silly people putting the wrong fuel in there cars while i worked at the main dealer. Both the 1380 mini and the '53 Landrover ran ok, however to much diesel leads to pinking!
try and filter it before you poor it in, there's often muck/debris suck out of the bottom of them fuel tanks.

If you leave it in a see through container for a while the fuels divide into layers, I left mine for a few weeks in the garden and it was quite easy to see.

and if your that worried!

Why not just fill your tank half full, then fill the rest with proper petrol?
Thin it out a bit more.

It'll be fine.

You can run up to half and half in a petrol engine without damage, it's just a bit smoky.

However, never, ever, ever run a Diesel engine with petrol in, that'll go bang and make a big mess!

Does running petrol/diesel mix in a petrol car do anything to fuel economy or performance? I guess when diesel was cheaper then it was worth topping up with diesel...

It will slightly change economy and performance, due to the specific energy of the fuel, and also could damage catalysts if done regularly, but in this case there'll be no harm, and no noticeable difference.

interesting as the wife put £30 unleaded in our ZX TurboD on saturday  got about 20 litres out but didnt want to put it in the mini as thought it might fubar my weber carb :)

also it has a little oil in it too as had to rinse a tub out to put new diesel in the fuel filter housing.

the car had no diesle in it (bottom of red line) so im guessing it is more petrol than diesel - not sure what to do.....
