I chatted to two new members, who I can't remember the names of :withstupid: until about 3 am, just before getting some rest. One of the chaps I spoke to said he had just purchased a sportspack and was the passenger of TheMiniForum member Jimmy

That was me, it was very nice to meet you. I was a little bit pissed by then so was probably acting a bit strange. Sorry about that. Only got about 3 or 4 hours sleep in the end, luckly didn't have even the slightest hang over the next morning. What a fantasic weekend, loved every second of it.

Upcoming plans are to buy and fit the metro subframes so I can put the metro seats back in. Also going to be purchasing a gearbox with a 3.44 final drive to replace the 3.66 as its costing too much to run. Fuel consumption at the moment is averaging 25 mpg, which does around the 100 mile mark per tank. Having the 3.44 final drive, like I had before the engine change will mean I'll be getting a reassuring average of 40 mpg.

It was a busy day in the city of Canterbury (the "Tour de France" ends there on Sunday) at rush hour traffic and I hear an odd noise while on a roundabout. >_< No drive! I'm in gear but I'm not moving and its making a grinding noise. The speedo is going up but the mini remains stationary. I jump out, blocked the traffic for a bit, and pushed it off the roundabout onto the side of the road. Had to wait in total 4 hours for a flat bed tow truck, shown below to arrive.

During that time 6 minis drove passed and not one of them stopped or waved. :P The recovery man said both drive shafts are knackered. Mini is now parked outside my house.

If you can't select gears with the engine off then it has nothing to do with the driveshafts.

It does go in gear, what I meant was that when you put it into gear nothing happends. The engine just revs and the speedo goes up while the car is stationary.

more lightly a CV joint meaning you have 1 wheel drive, unless the diffs gone
