The 3.6FD will lower your MPG espeically on motorways, not so much around town though 20MPG is very low. Deffinatly get it on the rollers to see where its loosing it all.

Your going the wrong way Flappy. Going from a 3.44 to a 3.6 will increase revs at a given speed and so increase mpg marginally.

a 3.6 will INCREASE revs on the motorway(like you said jammy) therefore reducing mpg(making it worse)

Mini has had a small service; been greased up, new oil seal on gearbox, oil and filter change, new engine mount, anti-freeze and tuned.

This afternoon I went to Manne Hutte with Tomf, to pick up a wheel arch and exhaust mounts. The plan was to fit them when we got back to Tom's house. As we got back and waited to drive through the slow electric gates, my exhaust fell straight off. My car is sitting in Tom's garage overnight, he gave me a lift home and I'll be heading back to his tomorrow with my ramps to put the exhaust back on.

Ive had a Twin DTM come off on the way back from a meet, a shoe lace lasts around 40 miles in the wet, but 40 miles just wasnt enough. Mr AA man came out with some big cable ties!

On the 18th I went back to Tom's with my Dad and we fixed the exhaust back on nice and tight.

On the 19th the mini went in for an MOT and failed on offside front CV Joint.

On the 22nd the mini got the CV joint fixed and passed the MOT

I have received in the post a distributor thanks to Ian (squeaka)

There are a couple of advisory notes on the MOT certificate

1. Steering column top bearing slightly worn

2. Corrosion in nearside front outer sill.
