Going to fit the sump guard and order oil temperature gauge.

Despite a mishap with UPS, my next installments of parts recommended by mark from Mini Spares arrived this morning, a day later than scheduled.

K&N Cone Filter

Carb to manifold gasket

Tie Bar Rods (one of mine is bent)

Tie Bar Bush Kit

Manifold Inlet Torquemaster

Because its not an MG one, its a standard mini one with nipple for the old filter box. therefore air flow is restricted as the standard one is not the best and the torquemaster is the best one to go for with the set up of this engine, it is then slightly improved by myself to create slightly more of a vortex inside improving bhp.
Oil cooler is not going to be fitted as its not needed or always recommended unless the sump guard is a closed no holed variety. standard mini suspension soft so my guess is that sump hit speed hump at some point looking at damage. Oil in old engine contaminated, dumped on road and scored piston bores. Therefore a write off and having a low mileage engine is just what is required as it came up cheap for Dom.

Not quite.

Its running nicely, will probably need to get it rolling roaded and set up.

The speedo is out so trying to find somewhere to get that recalibrated.

And the wire for starting the engine isn't thick enough to carry the current, so the only way I can drive is if I jump start it. Luckily I live on a hill so I can do quick runs to and from my house but can't park in a car park unless someones around to give me a push.

Need to get a link pipe from the manifold to the rc40.

And yesterday evening when I came back from visiting a friend my sidelights including tail lights, and my fog light have stopped working, I think this might be down to a loose wire because of the starter motor?

Almost, not quite there yet.

If I had the free time, yes I'd give it ago but at the moment I don't. Currently I barely have time to come on TheMiniForum. I've got a major animation project at uni I've been doing for the last few weeks on top of that two documentery's I'm making, and an all day exam Thursday.

or just change the speedo drive cogs to the correct ratio.

best bet is to see if you can get the ones out of your old box.

it is possible to change the cogs with the engine in the car but you will need to take the rad out and a few more bits and bobs

I haven't taken any pictures of my cooper in a while so I decided to take some.

The replacement engine, from an MG Metro.

I had a spare few hours this afternoon so I drove over to Tomf's house to catch up. While I was there we did a couple of things to my cooper.

Posted Image

Removed the old fog light and replaced the drivers side reversing light with the fog light.

Lit up

Fixed the sidelights. The reason behind them not working was a faulty switch. Fitted the voltage gauge, theres no picture for this as it is a tempory fitting. Later when I get a dash and the other gauges I'll have them all in the dash. At some point I'd also like to fit a power socket.

We tried to fit the vacuum gauge but couldn't figure out where to put the tube. On Tom's mini it was straight forward.

Here is a picture of the minispares inlet manifold.

Can someone tell me how to fit the vacuum gauge tube onto it?
