On Sunday the 2nd of July 2006 I went to the Motoring Pageant at the Paddock Wood Hop Farm in Kent.

I set off, went to the car wash and met with some of the Kentish mini lot at Canterbury East Station at 7 am.

We drove to the old little chef to meet the spectacular clubman estate, which we then followed to the hop farm to set up the stand.

We packed up and left the hop farm around half five. Fantastic weather, great sunshine, great cars and pleasant atomosphere.

Right, I have just got back from MiniSi's house and have bought 2 beige doors from him to replace my drivers door which has a broken window mechanism, has severe rust and has warped..., and a passenger door to match.

Both these doors look to be in good condition and have wing mirrors that fold in! :withstupid: Didn't know they existed!

Right, went to our local respray man who happens to be a friend of the family (favminigirl's dad) at his business Richwood and he had a look at the drivers door I bought from MiniSi.

He said that the door had been reskinned and underneath is not much better than my current door so its not worth the respray.

He said its not worth buying a new door and paying the price to get it resprayed and waxoiled etc because in 4 years time the rust will come back and the door will need replacing again.

So my best bet is to touch up the rust I have and spray it with a can and keep on top of it, which is what I will do.

This afternoon my dad and I managed to remove the window mechanism out of MiniSi's door and place it in my drivers door, which means I can now drive round in my mini without sufficating! :-

Don't know, I don't need them, I may use the folding mirrors and I have used the mechanism out of the drivers door.

Its easier to do if you have one person holding the window in place and the other puts in the mechanism, difficult to do on your own.

The weather is nice, sunny and warm so one evening I would have another go at rubbing down and sorting the rust but I do not have the time. It looks ok for now (see pictures) but it is still not quite sorted.

While doing the Brands Hatch to Nurburgring Run I encountered a couple of problems. One of which was dodgy connections to the coil and the coil itself being faulty. While in Germany Dan fitted a new coil for me and Graem sorted out new connections, which solved the problem of it cutting out and making the rev counter dance about.

The other problem I had was for some reason the car would overheat very quickly. One possible answer is the thermostat needs replacing but another reason was the radiator cap seal, which was on the way out, so I have bought a new one and in the next few weeks I will see if that makes a difference.

Here are some recent pictures of the car.

During the run I drove 1012 miles from leaving my house and returning a week later.

I've made myself a new signature B)

Another possible fault to my jumping rev counter suggested by a friend was the ignition module on the distributor.

When sat in traffic the temperature gauge is back to its usual reading, so thats solved thanks to the new radiator cap seal... but the rev counter still likes to have a dance.
