France was great thanks, we passed the turn off for Dunkirk on the way back so I know roughly where you are now.

Right, after chatting with the previous owner he told me that he had problems with the passenger side headlight unit as it always leaked. After going through several unsealed headlights he bought a sealed headlamp to solve the problem. (Problem being the unsealed units leaked causing the headlight blow)

I have had a similar problem with the indicator in that it gets filled with water too whenever it rains. I tried removing the indicator unit (the lense and bulb can be removed to dry and remove the water) but the unit is screwed in by rusted nuts so i cannot take it out.

When you say Dunkirk you did mean 3 miles from faversham?

Do angel eyes come as a complete unit or an add on to the existing light?

Ive never seen what they involve.

Ok here are a few pics of one of the pair, I am afraid they are a bit out of focus as the camera setting didn't work properly :w00t: but it did make them small enough to upload straight away. I have only uploaded pictures of the main unit, I also have the side light bulbs and the covers - not that I'll use them.

I did a general check of the car and topped up the oil and noticed one of the tyres looked a bit odd. Went to the tyre place and got 4 new tyres - Nankan 145x70xR12 (Nankan is a sister company of Yokohoma)

Not being rude mate, and no offence is intended- but they are shi t! :gasp:

My Nankangs (which came with the car) had about 4.5mm of tread left, but A539's were first on my shopping list!

Looks soo much better with '539s, they fill the arches so much more.

Hi mate

Dunkirk is just off Brenley corner roundabout. Near Boughton.

I quite like that bmw ring look and when they're off they look normal.
Whats stopping you fitting them?

The tyres were the only ones avaliable. Why they pants? Do they not give good grip or something?

 wrong dunkirk then

cant fit them yet it looks like it might rain.

Well once i wrote that post, i went out to do it.

Failed. The bottom screws of the headlights are rusted solid so ill need to drill them to get them off. Before i do that i will need replacement screws, which i will get tomorrow... as well as new indicator units from our manstor mini spares place.

Oh and i need to order 8 mini nuts for the wheels as they are knackered.

Right, myself and my dad went to the manston mini spares place at 9:30 am and bought 8 new wheel nuts, 2 new indicator units and some spare bulbs. (In his car)

We then went into town to get some replacement screws for the headlight and the indicator.

Got back, had lunch, came out and the front left tyre was flat. :saywhat: brand new tyre... :w00t: Gave me a lesson of changing the wheel, put the spare on and went back to the tyre place after putting on all the replacement nuts.

Turned out the inner tube was punctured by a large hole. :nugget: Got that fitted and changed for £12 and returned home.

Detattached the battery. Unscrewed the passenger side indicator took the bulb out and took the top screw out of the indicator unit. The other two were rusted solid. After a while of drilling and 3 drill pieces later we got the unit off.

While trying to replace it with the other one we had to disconnect the old one from the main connections, which snapped and broke. :nugget: So we soldered them back together, re-masking taped them and fitted the unit back in with new screws.

It worked  One job done

Next job to fit the angel eyes. Firstly unscrewed the outer rims then the outer rings... problem... :nugget: on both headlights the bottom screws were rusted solid :saywhat: So yet again tried drilling them, didnt work despite loosing another drill piece... So ended up sawring them out! Took a long time!

Finally got them out we could then cut out the original side lights, replace them with the new ones, attach the new halogens we bought, screw them in thanks to the new screws and re-connected the battery.

Finished by 7 pm just in time for tea.

Success they work
