Is a sound deadening kit the same as a carpet underlay kit?

Or am I totally wrong and these are totally seperate.

I need to find a good full carpet set and whatever it is that needs to go underneath?

Thanks

I'm using thick laminate underlay in mine, its not the same stuff as sound deadening, but it was £5 for a huge roll (more than enough for 2 mini's) in a carboot sale.

The main difference is felt type material vs. the Fatmat type material. The fatmat will give good sound and heat protection and the felt a softness under the carpet. I have both.
