Hideous. It's all about money, BMW don't care or have any respect for the real Mini and churning stuff out like this proves it. The original Bini was horrible but this takes the biscuit. It'll definately sell as there's two types of people who buy Binis - Classic Mini enthusiasts who embrace it (a minority) or people who think the original Mini was "cool" because they've watched the Italian Job a couple of times so they buy a Bini and they truly believe they've got a Mini.

Now thinks about a supercharged 4WD BINI, maybe it's not so bad after all....

Maybe soon.................

Getrag All Wheel Drive MINI Cooper S
Mega World: Sweden TV Show 40 minutes into the show the host, Kevin Brauch gets into a MINI Cooper S and goes to the Artic Falls Test Track proving Grounds in Northern Sweden, where Getrag took two MCS and made one AWD. Then tested them on the track and compared the two, one with AWD and one without, in the hope BMW will soon make an AWD version.

Video of the entire show Link below...........Fast Forward to 30:45 for the AWD MINI part of the show
http://video.google....309701279751306

So I take it you approve and like it?

If BMW were to serve you a turd on a platter, would you also like that?

I certainly approve, an AWD MINI Cooper S would be a great car to top the MINI range. If only BL had been able to further develop their brilliant 4x4 Works Rallycross Mini Clubman (which I watched beat all the Ford Escorts and 4WD Capris at Lydden circuit in the 1970's) into another world beating production/competition car. You may have seen it fully restored at Mini shows (blue with white roof), it uses a rear drive system taken of a Moke built by BMC for 4WD development in the 1960's.

I rest my case, pass the platter with the turd.

If we all had exactly the same opinions this would be a very boring Mini forum, we both like and own classic Minis and have been into them for longer than most so we do have a lot in common, even though I,m also interested in the MINI. If you have a problem with BMW that is not my fault, I only answered your question on the AWD MINI shown in the video.
I did a quick search for more info on the BL Special Tuning 4x4 Rallycross Mini Clubman but could not find much........out of interest do you have any links or pictures of it maybe?

No I don't and if BL had had more money the Clubman would never have existed because Issigonis would have had his way and his NEW MINI (aka Project 9X), would have been launched instead. (glad the real Mini continued though anyway).

So stop trying to find parallels with what BMW is doing now and what BL failed to do in the past, it's just boring and nobody here really gives a toss.

If no-one gives a toss then why has there been 5 topics on this car? It'd be nice if people actually didn't give a toss.

What I meant was the parallels being drawn between what BL should have done and what BMW are doing today.

If mab01 knew his stuff, then he'd have known what Issigonis wanted and a 4wd Mini Clubman wasn't it.

So why draw parallels with something that wasn't meant to be anyway?

Either way BMW can't do no wrong for mab01, whatever they do he'll find it relevant to something BL did.

Pity they hadn't called the BINI a Maxi or an Allegro, then we'd be spared all this *rubbish*.
