i think you are confusing the pot joint removal tool with one used to get the driveshaft out of the pot joint the one you have seen in the manual is the latter one
Not confused mate, the driveshaft tool is the only one I know. After I got the driveshafts out I had a look for the rover special tool for next time but couldn't find one. StewartGT added a link for a removal tool for just getting the pot joints off as I was having trouble removing them after I got the driveshafts out of the pots.
