Pretty much, yes. Didn't take me any effort at all. I just gave the block to Carl at Force Racing then picked it up a few days later

Well, that does sound easy yes :teehee:

I think I'll give it a miss, i'll probably mess it up.

Looking good though, when do you think it will be back on the road.

It's from an MG Metro/Turbo Metro it just acts as an oil cooler/warmer. there's no thermostat or anything. It just plumbs in line from the thermostat housing to the heater.

The water cooled filter head was only fitted to MG and I think Vanden Plas, not Turbo, you may find that your oil will be getting too hot, as per standard Metro turbo they had a proper oil cooler :D

Most people don't bother with the oil cooler, it doesn't offer much benefit. We have an oil temp gauge fitted, so far the oil hasn't got anything like too hot. Even at full chat doing 100+ MPH (on private roads)

It's in the speedo drive housing (you should be able to see it in the last picture). Tests show the temp doesn't vary much between the sump and the galleries.

We run 8-10psi normally, but had a dodgy manual boost controller fitted and where seeing 21psi+ according to the megajolt. When it's run in again we'll be setting the actuator to 14psi and leaving it be.

I've remade the top engine steady bracket in 2mm steel, hopefully it will be strong enough.

I've drilled and tapped the flat spot on the inlet manifold so that we can put the one way valve back into the original point.

Posted Image

That will be getting the return from the oil catch tank, which is going here:

The engine is just about ready to go back in at the weekend. We ended up swapping the flywheel as the old one had bent and was catching the transfer casing.

Dropped it in, plumbed everything up, filled all the fluids, got the float bowl full and then it cracked straight into life.
Bleed the clutch and of we went. Runs really well. :(

We spent some time sorting all the niggly little job's out last night - first oil change, dodgy speedo cable, small oil leak etc etc.

When we ran it on Saturday in temps around 30 degrees it was constantly running hot. So we've made a ghetto air damn to force all the air through the radiator.

Posted Image

It stayed nice and cool when we tested it last night, but then it was only around 10 degrees outside. The big test will be when the sun comes out again next year. While we where there we made a cold air feed for the air filter.

Posted Image

It just needs a slight misfire when changing gear at high rev's sorting out and the lowered hydro cans and dampers fitting.
