here is blacktulip at a local classic car show on sunday. a few cars up was a lovely white mk1.

got my 998 stripped down for the rebuild, the crank and piston bearings look in great condition. however the crank seems to have chunks taken out of it. was this from the factory for balancing?

Update:

 

New purchases...

Kent MD266 cam

County +60 flat top pistons

Kent timing disc

Countersunk screws for vernier timing gear clearance.

 

Block sent away for cleaning, overboring +60. All oil galleries flushed, new core plugs. Crank reground with new mains and big ends.

 

To do...

Clean up the remaining engine parts. Possibly shot blast the parts.

Make workshop engine build friendly.

update:

Short engine first build completed, the crank end float bang on, all the bearings fit lovely and spin smoothly. Need to remove 6 thou from the deck face to achieve flush piston height. When funds allow the gearbox rebuild will begin.....

Engine rebuild nearly done, just a few ancillaries left to go then it's ready for installation. Got a set of Cooper s rockers. I was worried as a few people said that they are poor quality but it looks like they have been sorted out. These fit perfectly.

The engine rebuild is now complete
Just got some tidying up to do then the big start up will be happening soon






I sent the dizzy to h&h ignition for a recurve and revamp. I was very impressed.
