Good to see you have found an interior for it! Looks alot better than black :-) Where did you find it?

ebay :-) was searching for classic mini seats but nothing, then tried classic mini interior and it came up listed as "1971 mk3 mini interior red". was a fair drive but well worth it.

Thats cool, I was wondering whether the seats would look right in mine with black carpets or if I'd need to get a red set, they definitely look good in yours so I'll be doing the same  :-)

And I found the rear pocket liners today while I was on the hunt for something else :P

Well done on finding the seats they look amazing. Finishes the car off nice.

Black carpets look good but red is the correct colour, sorry if you already know that. My black tulip GT also had red door seals, not the rubber but the backing that pushes over the metal lip.

i doubt i will find original carpets :( although i do like the contrast with what i have got.

i had it up for sale at MITP on the weekend, didnt have any interest though. had lots of people looking at it though. maybe its just not for anyone but me lol. either that of shes doing something to scare people off

nevermind. i still bought some new seals, chrome side strips and some under bonnet sound insulation for it. oh, and a new boot seal (which now wont let the boot close) i might go for a later type seal if i cant find a way to shut it.

the sound deadening makes a nice difference, i took it to a meeting the other week (travel in style lol) and it was less tiring. i have also fitted a later type boot seal and it is much better.

just need a buyer now...

plans to strip the 998 down and see whats what, dont know what cam to go for. looking at a Kent 266 or a Piper 270? i think i will have to have the block bored to +10 and new flat top pistons. got to have a look at what pistons i have first so i get the right ones. i have the 12G295 head, need to get that converted to unleaded, new guides and skimmed to get the compression ratio. This all goes out the window if someone actuall buys it lol :-)

Hi, I didn't get back to about the mini as its a no go for me, I have two already, sorry about that. Your mini looks great but I have to be realistic.

If your thinking about re building the 998 check out the claverST  website, under the engine section he has hypatec flat top pistons up to +0.100 (approx. 1079cc I think) there meant to be really good pistons and are quite reasonable. I'm planning on getting some for my 998 when I eventually get that far, I like the idea of over boring my 998. It should also make the 12G295 easier to fit as less will need skimming due to the capacity increase affecting the compression ratio, you will need a slightly larger combustion chamber as each cylinder is slightly bigger.

Pics!

pics coming soon :-)

it sailed through the MOT last week once i had my two new tyres fitted before hand. nice to have it back on the road again. i havent drove it properly since last november.

got a couple of little jobs to sort out,

  • one of my headlights keeps going out when i switch them on, then they come on when i fiddle with the wiring to the left of my front panel. to be honest Blacktulip could do with a new loom.
  • there is a blister appearing on the O/S scuttle panel area. that needs investigating.
  • need a new battery box as its grotty plus a new battery cover and strap
  • my seats need a few minor repairs and a good clean.

all jobs to do in my new workshop in the place we have just bought.
