No worries. He just popped up on Ebay recently; I have saw him at the Colchester Mini show last year. He seems to have a lot of used parts.

I noticed i had oil mixing in with my water. So i decided to change the head gasket. Also so i could have a peek inside the bores etc being nosey. I bought a BK450 kit, new silicone bypass hose and a 15lb rad cap.

I got it all stripped down, everything ready to lift the head off and it took lots of budging to get the damn thing off lol. the front centre head stud seemed to be stuck on the head. so lots of rubber mallet and swearing it eventually came off. It was evident that the gasket wasnt sealing properly so i cleaned the block face meticulously and made sure the head face didnt have any dirt on it. Whilst the head was off i took the valves out one by one and inspected the seats which all looked really good, the stem seals looked fairly new too but i still changed them. The guides seem in good condition too as i did the popping technique.

So i put it all back together and all seems good. Now i need to flush the whole system out so i will do that tomorrow.

Also i noticed the pistons had a 21253 +0.30 on so i think its actually a 1301cc, i thought it went well for a 1275cc.

Another job i did this weekend was change my old rubber gear housing gaitor for a new one as the old one was ripped. Now the gear lever doesnt flop around so much. I changed the chrome gear knob back to the original one too.

its a colour of interior that leyland used on original mk3's. its a dark orangy red colour, just what mine would have rolled out of the factory with. once i have cleaned and fitted it i will post up some pictures :-)

i have put the seats and door cards in :-) i really like them. i think it makes the interior more cheery looking. there is one rip on the passenger side seat about 4" long so i am going to get it repaired and also i will get the whole lot cleaned properly too. im very happy with them. they also came with original bin liners in the same colour :-)

ebay :-) was searching for classic mini seats but nothing, then tried classic mini interior and it came up listed as "1971 mk3 mini interior red". was a fair drive but well worth it.
