1964 Vespa Scooter - Should I Buy It?
#1

I'm after a little bit of advice....I have been offered a 1964 restored Vespa scooter. It is 150cc doesn't have MOT or TAX but I know the seller (Firends Bro in-law). He is asking £850 for it but I think I could prob get it for £750 - £800.
I have a full bike licence and I already ride a ZX6-R so insurance/licence isn't an issue but I know very little about scooters other than I like the look of Vespa's and my de-restricted 50cc Piaggio Zip scooter is rubish, so I would like to replace it!
Can anyone offer any adivce? Does it sound like a good price, would you buy it etc...
Cheers,
Luke.

If you ever do by a LAMBRETTA or a VESPA you will never lose your money they are all ways going up and up in price
And seem that you say it bean Restored it will be rust free
With the VESPA they are all pressed still
They are more reliable then the Lambrettas

If you can, go and have a ride on it, they are completely different to the bikes you've mentioned and like most things bike orientated not for everybody, personally i've ridden some older scooters and found it difficult to get on with the hand gear change, rideable though and (once in gear) great fun tooi think thats a ery good price, i used to have a vespa but needed to sell it in order to buy the mini, but i'm planning on getting an other one...

I'm not sure whether it is a GS but I'm going to arrange a viewing as I've only seen pics so far. The guy is no rush to sell and from what I understand, he has never ridden it he just likes restoring stuff! I believe he had a lot of bits powder coated etc....

To be honest I'm not a huge fan of how scooters feel to ride, I much prefer sports bikes but I love the styling of old skool Vespa's and I'm kinda viewing this as an investment.
I'll take a look and post back with what I decide to do.

I m thinking of buying a scooter but its a new made vespa but produced in india i been told i could have it for between 500 to 600 ,its not even been run in yet but they dont fit in well with scooter clubs eg ,like new mini. But these are made from original press tools but hes told me tonight you can buy 1970 lambereta onwards a 200 or 150 cc and change block or engine , for a 125 for me he rang a few numbers for me to find one today for about 1000.00 and he would check it for me.He is on verge of buying and restoring scooters so if you need his phone num pm me and i will pass it to you .Its cheap i think what your buying. The person i talked to about his is worth about 5000.000. I have got to buy somthing else not another miniHi,
