you cant flash your lights unless you have dipped beam on is this the same on all minis ? just to flash you have to click the dipped beam on then flash

its just a large carry on if you see a mini and want to flash them!

No you should be able to flash regardless of whether your lights are on or off.

Pull the stalk back towards you.

You should be able to flash your headlights (high beam) with your lights switched off. Sounds like a wiring fault?

Your problem will more than likely lie in the actual stalk,it may need cleaning to allow the contacts to touch.
Take the cover off, then the steering wheel, then remove the actual stalks and clean between the plates this will more than likely cure your non flashing lights.

yeah i'd say clean the contact on the stalks too, they're brass and get a covering of dirt on causing them not to work.

yeah, you should even be able to flash with no ignition on :s

does anyone know if the relay operates a different circuit when dipped beams are on? 'because it could just be a relay fault.

Flashing with headlights in the on position the power is sourced to the lights via the blue output from the headlight switch. If you are flashign without the headlights on the power is sourced from the purple wire coming off fuse point 4, ie 2nd fuse down, right hand connection. Does your horn work ok? This is sourced from the same point....

We had loads of trouble with this connection on my friends car, clean up the connector on the fuse box aswell as the spade connector on the wire. Sorted our problem.
