Strength wise? Its been majorly beefed up since the once in the picture and I've bought the same/if not stronger material that has been used on similar builds.

I woud like to see how you have mounted the alternator. If I did mine again I would have mounted it at the front but my engine mount is in the way now. Good luck getting it from this stage to getting it running. I thought it was the hardest bit of my build.

Havent got that far yet but I was going to mount it on the front engine mount so that it sits behind the drivers wing in a similar fashion to Eds brothers one.

After people on 16v said my subframe looked weak and me not being completely happy with it anyway I've basically redone most of it.
Heres some crappy pics of it in the shed anyway:

<a href="http://www.flickr.co...08/3034805127/" title="DSC00393 by king.chan11, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm4.static....4b946fd355.jpg" width="500" height="375" alt="DSC00393" /></a> (Stupid image hosting site)

Its been beefed up. Instead of 25x25x3 box section Ive used 30x30x3 and 25x50x3 and has a couple of 6mm gussets added aswell. All it needs doing now is the engine mounts lined up and welded into place. Was going to do it today but the weather wasnt on my side.

I've also got one hilo fitted aswell, with some painted upper arms and my 1.5 neggy camber arms to help me get round those corners if I ever get it running.

Jack-yea I know Im having some troubles with photobucket atm. I would usually hit stuff when its broken but its a website. :dontgetit:

Tom-I ended up getting the metal from ebay in the end. Came to about £40 for 2m or 2.5m (cant remember which) lengths of both and that was including P+P and postage was next day. Tried to order from Parker steel in Canterbury but they just confused me with all this random *rubbish* about how they do thier cutting and what I could and couldnt order.

Fair enough yea parker steel are really confusing, they kept trying to send me to a place over the road to get a sheet of metal cut or something and that would cost me £30 when the whole sheet was only going to cost me £20 or something like that lol, thats when i ended up going to that other place i tried to eplan to you about (badly i must add) lol

I only need and A4 size sheet of 4mm or 6mm stuff. Ill get myself over to ebay :dontgetit:

Nah I knew where it was anyway. I went in there and the guy gave me like strips of 8mm and 10mm bits. Didnt really help me much. Lol. Its annoying when you only want small bits isnt it.

Ill send a couple of pics your way Tom
Edit: No I wont.

Ignore Noo noo from the tellytubbies in the first pic, the pieces from the original subby I made, and the state of my shed. :dontgetit:

Got this through the post today. Didnt realise I got one without a fuel guage so Ill buy a fuel guage and some other guage, prob oil temp or water temp, to go either side of it on my dash.

Out of the box:

Its smaller than I thought but anywho it was a bargain and will allow me to get accurate speedo readings.

Also gave the subby afew licks of paint and started fitting the other hilo and it should be on the car for the winter.

Will get some better pics tomorrow.

The only thing that gets removed is the tie bar mountings at the front. The easiest way to keep everything lined up is by making a jig but I didnt do that. I wish I did in hind sight.

Oh major update:

I bolted on my steering rack the other day and then I ran inside as it was cold and raining.

:D

So i was being a dafty lol when you say jig what do you mean? like drawing the shape of the old subframe on a piece of plywood and then compairing it to your new one for the tie bar mounts position ? what size box metal are you useing ? 1 1/2 x 2 1/2 inch ?

Like a metal frame going around it that holds bits in place etc.

Im using a mix of 50mmx25mmx3mm and some 30mmx30mmx3mm
