Well, I thought I would start a new project thread for this since I have really just started with this car. Over the past few weeks I have been buying up bits and pieces and this weekend I started working on the actual car!

I had planned to rebuild a spare 850 engine I had and see how much power I could eek out this fantastic little engine! However, after chipping the block and writing off the crank, my plans had to change!! So now I'm just using the gearbox from the 850 and I'll be sourcing a 998 short engine.

So heres a quick list of bits I bought so far:Spax RSX519 coilovers
MiniSport Billet Alu 4 pot brakes
Roundnose flipfront
Cobra Imola Kevlar seat
Cobra Monaco seat (for passenger!)
Solid subframe mounts
Uprated adjustable tie-rods
I'm not sure whether I'll be using the flipfront yet. Prefer to keep it a Clubman front, and if I can get it through with the current panels I will.

Jobs to do:

Weld in repairs to rear subframe mount panel, driver footwell and new A-panel
Fit new seats
Clean up new subframe and have it powder coated
Rebuild gearbox
Build up engine and fit to subframe
Fit coilovers and brakes
Fit subrame complete with engine
Refit fuel tank with new hose (snapped last one!)

da clubman looks great!
i've seen a lot of people going 4 da flipfront on their clubmans and i prefer da original rather than a flipfront even tho there are a lot of benefits wid a flipfront!
anyway you did a good job 2 say it was boilin hot!

thats going to be a nice project mate, those holes in the floorpan are easily plated, can you weld or are you going to get someone else to do it for you?

Your doing just what I want to do. Your clubman is in very good condition and I like the colour. How much did you pay for the clubman?

I have not got a clubman yet, so I will see how you get on. Plus when I get one, I can get tips from you.

I bought the car for £200 just over 2 years ago now! In fact nearly three, since then it has moved, bar to be driven round the block and one pre-MOT test last summer! I've had to replace the rear subframe, and the auto gearbox is nackered, hence the reason for going over to manual!

I'm going to try and weld the floorpan and the A-panel myself, however theres a couple of holes in the rear pocket and at the bottom of the rear arch, which I'm thinking maybe a MOT fail, will try and get it through though!!
