Ah, there's some bad news I forgott to mention:
I spoke to the TÃœV engineer last week - there's no chance of doing it legaly, unless you do a full emisions test circle,
which costs at verry least £1500! Success not guaranteed...
They recently changed emision laws, making it almost impossible to change engines, carbs and whatsoever without a proof of emissions.
I was verry lucky to get my 1275cc engine made legal in spring...
And I don't like the idea of driving around with an ilegal setup.
In the worst case, the may accuse you for tax fraud!
I'm going to talk to them again (or some other TÃœV stations/engineers),
maybe there's a little chance, as there's no worse emission-class then the one I'm runing in (and paying for)...
But I'm guessing this needs some hard work to convince them to record the Fish to the papers.
In Germany anything not stock needs to be registered in the vehicles papers, like exhaust, HiLos, seats, steering wheel etc. - and it needs a certificate proofing it's save or you need to pay ridicoulus money for an TÃœV engineer making you a 'custom' proof to register it... Germany! I'm loving it!

Jan

Thanks!
Glad you like!
There's a proper 'Smiths' speedo for the Cobra 427 - but it cost's about 340 pound/400€
I don't like the AutoMeter replica... It looks... Wrong somehow?
But - I sourced somthing in the range of Minis!
In the range of italian 'Bertone' Minis!
Innocenti DeTomaso (the italian MG Metro):
I hope I can modifie its internals to fit into a 100mm Smiths housing.
Maybe I need an electronics-wizard to help me gt a 4 cyl. signal to run with a 3 cyl. tacho.
Don't know yet if the A-series powerd DeTomaso had this revcounter too - or if it was for the 3cyl turbo only
But still - should be MUCH cheaper than a Cobra speedo
And still I'm waiting for the main gearbox bearing
Regards,
Jan

Thanks!
It's a German made 'Victor', Type 'F'. (Colloquially called 'Victor F')
Was the stock steering wheel of my Mini!
Special edition 'Mayfair Sport', the last edition of factory 10" Minis in Germany, build in 1983 and early 1984.
200km/h speedo, rev counter (gray 'Smiths' 3 gauge cluster), baby-blue velours interior and 165 Dunlop tyres on 5x10" Exacton/Mini Special wheels.
The first Mini (well, at least in Germany) to come with wide tyres from stock (followed later by the 13" 'i'-Minis)
Brochure: http://www.mini-mayf...yfair_Sport.pdf
Cheers,
Jan

Bad and good news.
The bad: AAU1365 will not be available again this year.
They are now sheduled for the end of january 2009...
It's nonsense to rebuild the gaerbox without that bearing...
But luckily I got a Metro today, which means I can drive that and can spare the Mini's gearbox.
And hopefully the world-wide demand for AAU1365 isn't growing too big and they stay in stock for a while
Here's my new real Austin Metro LE:
Oh, and these little beauties are on the way to me:
100mm Smiths, of a Triumph 2000/2500 (assumed).
Cheers,
Jan
