Plus the head casing doesn't match cradley's pics. Back to the drawing board guys.

indeed,

looks similar to a honda head i have seen, but i get the feeling even if somone got it right he'd deny it.

Anyway its a pointless exercise...

it would be much easyer and better to use a 1.2 fiat head, they come in 16v and will bung out better power and less emisions.

if someone did guess the right car/engine/head i would give them a gold star and pat on the back. but as i feel it makes no differemce what the car is the head is from i will keep it to myself, as someone said earlier its not like they are readily available anyway, and its far from a bolt on conversion too.

and as for pointless escercise? well i wont even start. its this kind of attitude that spoils forums. im sure specialist components wouldnt think it was a pointless exercise when they were developing the k head conversion.

anyway enough of that, got the head bolted on today (with the holes that do line up anyway so i can check for valve clearance against the block, i will add pictures later today with any luck for you to see how it fits up.

I know i am wrong as hyundai is korean but i would have guessed at an early hyundai s coupe,we have a 1995 mvi thing which is a 4 cyl 12 valve, anyway i can see exactly the point of what you are trying to do here, i think its a great little project and i wish you all the best with it ;D

If you want an economical engine then EFI is THE way to go, slapping a few carbs on it will only make it worse than the original engine. By fuel injecting it you could increase the C/R and gain economy and power as you will have far better control of what fuel is going in. It will also drive far better and you will stand more of a chance of getting it running properly. :D

Seems ALOT of effort for not any gain really. Plenums aren't very complex so fabricating a new one that fits is realtively straight forward, if thats what is putting you off?

ever thought that being the first tells you its not worth it? just from cost/gain perspective.

Acheivement wise, it will be impressive indeed and if finished i will tip my hat to you. :D

as i said earlier, do you think specialist components thought the k head conversion wasnt worth it as they were the first to do it (or whoever it was that did it first?) the only reason no one has done it with this head before is beacuse no one could get a head off one to try i would imagine. when i spoke to specialist components years ago at a show they said they just went through a ton of head gaskets, offering them up to a drawing of the top of the a series block, assuming this is how they did it, they wouldnt have tried a head gasket for the head im using as you cant get a gasket for it for love nor money, and its not even listed in the parts books at spares places either.

anyway.....

i stayed up late last night doing a bit on the block, you will have to escuse the quality of the pics but i hope you get the idea....

valve pockets in the top of the block, i didnt want to have to do this but it was tight! we all like a good fit though eh?

90's Micra head.

Already said, read the thread.

I'm saying Subaru or a Mitsu.

Will be interesting to follow this, I've been mildly interested in seeing a complete Alu Mini engine made, and I suppose with an Alu head, the only thing left would be the block! lol Not fussed if you don't want say what the head is from, doesn't sound like anyone will be readily able to get their hands on one anyway, but there does seem to be a certain amount of pub points up for grabs to the first to come up with the correct answer!

Apparently Ian at Avonbar has an alloy block and is going to produce more........

Would there be a name of the user who has mentioned the right manufacturer?

Great work so far, takes a lot of guts to try something which hasnt been done before.

You gonna run it on a Canems injection system, think it might work rather well with this setup?

I have to agree, i think you would get alot more enthusiasm and suggestions if people knew more about it.
