put my five pence worth in.
the head is not as long as the mini block its also not as wide this would lead one to think it be motorcycle.
I can see more problems with this head.

It looks like a Honda engine, I done a head gasket on a lot of years ago. If I am correct in guessing Honda you may find a gasket for the head easier than you think. The same engine was used in other makes of car.

Is it a toyota starlet engine??
I found that th 1E engine is 999cc 12 valve sinle cam but its carb'd. The 2E engine is 1.3 (1295-1296cc) 12 valve single cam and came with carb or injection.
please tell me i'm right

Its just the valves that trigger something in my brain.

unless i missed it no one has mentioned the correct manufacturer yet, its also not a bike head either. the head is shorter than the a series one, but it is equally as wide, however the head will be mounted slighly to the front of the block so it will over hang the front, and leave a gap at the back, exposing the redundant push rod holes, which i will plug.
here is a pic of how the valve gear works, clever, and a nice colour too!

a pic of the head as viewed from the front (as it will be in the mini anyway) and a pic of the other bits i needed from the engine. there are a bunch of pulleys which i will pick from for my fan belt, and there is also i natty little crank sensor disc should i ever need it if i was to ditch the dizzy and convert to a stand alone ignition system.
