i appreciate what your saying lads, but there is nothing i need help with, unless you have a 998 block i can have cheap? im not being miserabel with the details, its just whenever i ask people if i can have info on thier projects they dont want to tell me anything! i wanted to measure a crank pulley that a certain mini specialist had for sale for use on a supercharged a series, and they flat refused to let me put a vernier on it to measure the outside diameter.
Just 'cause others are tw*ts there's no need to join them!!!! I've read this thread but am now getting bored with it as I can't identify with the engineering as I don't know what you are working with. Secrecy is for the envelope pushing racers but the rest of us should help each other out and share the knowledge. You sound like a clever chap and I'm sure there are many on here that could learn from you if you would spill the beans!

im sorry you feel that way mate, but what will it help you if i tell you what car its from?
its an alloy 8 port cylinder head with 12 valves and one cam. the cam pushes rocker arms instaed of operating the valves directly. the rocker arms on the inlet side are effectively 2 rocker arms "siamesed" together, so the 2 inlet valves open together. i will post some pics of the rocker arms lter so you can see the valve gear. its so simple i dont know why i have never seen this done on another engine. its makes a much smaller head and much simpler to work on. i hope this helps, and i hope you appreciate my discretion.

I would suggest getting a belt drive timing setup and using that, you can work out the cog/wheel needed for the cam belt drive.
That tyope of cam/rocker combo is used on the BINI i think.

I think Honda used siamesed rockers on some bike engines, maybe XL's but not sure. And as I said it would be easier to identify with what you are doing out of interest if we new what you are working on. I think it is better to share information amongst like minded individuals, even the likes of Vizard collaborates with others re. R&D! I'm sure you are very learned but you never now what avenue might be presented by some others lateral thinking now do you?

Hmmm this sounds very familiar, im sure one of the lads at Mini Sport was stripping down a cylinder head of very similar descriptions the end of last week when i was working in there and im sure it was off a KIA....
