a little more progress this week, i have had the crank pulley from the jap engine machined to fit the a series crank, so i can slip that on now, also i have had the areas around the combustion chambers in the head tig welded, and have begun grinding them back to shape, the head will have to have a very small amount more welding around the chambers still, and then i can finish shaping them, i have also had the first set of water galeries in the head welded up, after looking at it since i have decided to have all the holes in the head welded up now so there is no way the head gasket can fail in regerds to oil and water, as both the head and block are completely blanked off from each other.

here is a pic of the first stage of the welding on the chambers, as ever excuse the poor picture quality, the shiny areas are the ones i have begun to reshape

i dropped the head in today for more welding, im really pleased now i am at this stage, getting the head moddified was the biggest stumbling block really, so now i cant see any reason why it wont be a complete success. i will post pics in the next few days of the head finished and skimmed

I think blue ones would go really nicely. Blue's a fairly uncommon colour for harnesses and would be a good match for an uncommon head :)

right, the head is finished now after its skimmed in the next day or so, i will post pics of it then so you can see how it looks now the chambers are all altered to match the head gasket.

finally got an apointment to speak to the bods at omega pistons so i went over yesterday afternoon. they were VERY helpfull, they are more than willing to make my huge pistons, forged instead of cast, dished for the correct c/r, valve cutouts calculated and machined, and special rings made to suit and all done in house! and for only £200 (EACH!) the price we pay for performance!

also this week i have nearly finished the block now so that can be decked, and then i just have to drill and tap some of the head bolt holes to suit the 12 valve head.

then i will have to turn my attention to the timing belt......

pics to follow i promise!
