Ive got a FLI amp powering my two subs, the only problem is that I only have one sub output in the back of my head unit so either can only run one channel on my amp, I plugged it into the output on my other amp which is not a sub amp so that I could run both subs. It was deffinatly more bassy on the sub output. So my question is, If I used an rca splitter cable (y piece) to split the signal will it reduce the volume of the subs e.g split between 2 so each sub will run half volume or will it not matter?

I dont think it halves the volume, but I think it will affect the quality as it has to send half of the signal down one cable and half down the other cable.

Do not worry about it. Volume + Quality should be fine. Stick the Y cable in and get them both running.

oh brilliant thanks, a friend of mine used the rca splitters to run 2 amps from one source and said there was a small drop in volume. But you are a more trustworthy lot. O_O

Different headunits have different output power.. So might have been down to his headunit..

Ok ive put the cable in now today and ive got my bass back  with 2 subs, my question now is, ive got a 4 channel amp, bridged into 2 channel to run 2 subs so I have 4 input phono sockets 2 per channel. At the moment I have 1 rca per channel so Have 2 rca inputs not being used, if i got more y piece connectors would I get more bass again?
