Well i went into the garage today and managed to the welder working enough to finish what i needed so now have managed to get the exhaust finished and back on, will have to see if there are any pin holes i missed,
but it seems better as well as not popping so much (hardly at all now)
It seems a fair bit quieter than it was which i think is a good thing. :P

Me and Jim just got back from a quick blast around the back roads so all seems ok. :teehee:
May have a bit of a play with the wiring tonight ready for tomorrow (Normanby Hall mini show).

I've just read all 2 years of this and it's an ace project :P well done! :gimme:

Have you put the cover on the engine yet or are you waiting until the engine is all finished?

You still thinking of putting a fake sub box over it for the stealth look? :teehee: Sounds like a great idea.

Also you still got the poo brown seats in it? Haha when are they changing? And what to? :P

:P You must have a lot of time on your hands :teehee:

Not yet put the cover over the engine, but now that the exhaust is on
and there is some support in the rear for the boot part of the bulkhead then that is next on the list of things to do.

Im probably going to cover the bulkhead in either speaker carpet or normal car carpet if i can find a roll of some.

and yes i still have the poo brown seats in it, they will be changed when the bulkhead is in
(so the new interior doesnt get covered in anything that gets flicked up :gimme: )
Have got some new seats to go in, but i may wait till they are in until i post a picy :P

Lol I read it on and off between about 5 and 9 (had a break for dinner and Casualty haha)

All sounds great I'll be coming back to check on this, such a brave project!

I have poobrown seats too but sadly I have poobrown everything else too, so can't really change just one bit - I'll have to change the lot - or live with poobrown :w00t:

Have decided to upgrade the rad and at the same time upgrade the pipes (to silicone)

Ill also be installing the heater again. Not to heat things up, but just to blow fresh air into the car :P

Old rad (small) compared with upgrade. Posted Image

i know what you mean, you really dont need a heater in a rear engined mini, especially if you haven't got a full cover on

Awesome aweosme build mate ive been following it from the beginning, very inspirational . I've started doing something very similar except im using a Toyota GT starlet engine so its turbo already..anywhos! Just wondering how hard it was to set the rear to use 13" and the front for 10"?.

Here in oz we cant have 6 point roll cage’s in a road legal car unless it was installed before 1996 or something so im making a rear subframe kinda thingo which should work well >_<

Keep up the great work though! love what you've done

Cheers

No mods to do the different wheel sizes, only had to recalibrate the speedo for the bigger wheels (programmable unit).

Made it back from Dragwars fine >_< Olive certainly goes with the 13s on!!

Alot better now, think it would actually do more on the RR more like 100 at the wheels!! :w00t:
Had a brief bit of fun on the gravel at dragwars :)
On the way back from Dragwars there was a stupid corsa with guys in it that i think wanted to race :dozing:
I dont think they liked getting over taken by a mini, as they over took me, and pulled in, and slowed down, so i drove past and didnt see them again.

Then sunday went down to see my dad and it was nice drive there, but it was tipping it down on the way back!! :(
All the windows steamed up and so i had to pull over to wipe them down, then drove home with the windows open so that the vapour got sucked out the windows, but everything was still dripping wet, until the exhaust got hot and dried most of it out, although i was still left with a puddle at my feet. :(

Also on the way down the wipers decided to stick!! :xxx: So i stopped and hooked up a bit of wire to one so that if they stuck i could pull it to free it
Then at Dads he gave the windscreen a clean :ermm: to get rid of all the flies i had picked up from going to Dragwars  then they worked fine on the way back.
Did have a wee scary moment on the way back, the back end kicked out going around a round about!!
Think it was mainly because of the water on some concrete, it was fine once i got onto the tarmac!!

It was pretty good on fuel though as it used half a tank to drive from Lincoln, to stratford upon avon, even with a 30min detour!!!
then i drove home after adding 5liters and still had a bit left when i got back. My tank holds about 23litres (i think) and so if i used that approximately to get to dragwars and back, plus my detour, then i did (approximately) 50mpg :) (probably more like 40 - 45mpg, but still good!!)
sunday i used 3/4 tank to get to cambridge, and back (so about 42mpg :) ).

So 7hrs or so of driving and she worked fine apart from me having a shower inside the car ;D
Suppose its her way of saying i should get a move on with the bulkhead :-
Oh and the fact that all weekend the only joint on the exhaust (so i can remove the back box easily) was blowing slightly,
so when i got home i took it off, filled it with goo and bolted it back together, so now it should be sorted.

Sorry its a bit of a long post, but that was my weekend :shifty: :ermm:
