It's probably in here somewhere, but howcome you are using a justy box anyway? And does it fit straight on the Suzuki engine without bellhousing adaptors etc.

CBA to read the whole thread, sorry! :D

After 96 the subaru justy was a rebadged swift, so the gearbox bolts straight on.
The AWD swift which was a rare version of the normal swift know as the cultus, and was sold mainly in japan and a few in other countries, but because subaru started making them we ended up with quite a few (although the engines were a started version and not the uprated DOHC that the cultus had) and i dont think the justy was sold in many other countries.

Im using it as it is bigger than the stock gearbox as it has to power all wheels, and not just 2, so in 2wd it can handle more power so i can tune the engine a bit more and not have to worry about the gearbox as some have to :D Also it is cable operated so it was easier to adapt the gearchange to work in the RWD setup.

It would be very easy to change it to AWD if the engine was in the front. But as it is the transfer shaft would be going out to a trailer! :D

I have a question. How long had you been welding before you decided to entrust your life to a frame you put together yourself? I'd like to compare.....

I had basically done some welding on stuff before i got the car, then i did some welding on my brothers car (sheet metal) and then i replaced panels on my car, then i started welding the frame. In the future i may change it a bit, but so far its been on and off of 2-3 years, but i guess it depends how confident you are at it, and just make sure you check your welds. I also whacked the power of the welder up high so it would get good penetration. :D

Ah ok, well that fills me with a bit more confidence, as I'll have roughly about the same amount of experience before I get to work on the frames!

welding tip tad O/T i guess but anywho... :D

if you can get hold of off cuts metal, any profile round 6mm plates about 2Inch wide 6Inch long, practice welding the 6mm to 6mm lapjointed then get a saw cut it into 3 bits on 1 piece put it into a vice fold it back on its self using a hammer, should bend metal if the weld brakes its not very welll penitrated, on another piece just inspect the weld if possible get a lil bit of ether acid or iodine on the joint (it should etch away the metal and show around the penitration point should be equil both sides if its more concentrated on one or other plate you having been welding in the centre at 45 degrease and more pointed at the plate with me penitration
check again with the 3rd plate this should show you if your gettin good penitration the whole length of the weld

if you have some round tubing weld a lil bit to a bit of 6mm when thats done cut verticly down the pipe so you can inspect the weld there again use the acid/iodine n look for penitration

if you see on any welds your not getting equil penitration all the way along consistantly keep welding and practicing ill you get consistancy then you should be ready to weld the cage or anything realy =]

How do mate.

I know ive asked you this atleast twice before but ive forgotten again! :X

How have you managed the handbrake problem? I remember something about using front drum drive flanges but it goes abit fuzzy after that.

Ive read back to where you, V8mini and Al are talking about it but you didnt post a solution.

Cheers Buddy

I wont ask again. :( Promise!

lol, back then we were talking about putting discs on the back,
at the mo its front drum hubs, flanges etc with rear back plates (so you have the same braking power as a normal mini).
