Yeah i changed the original box for a cable version that also has beefier gears and diff so it can take more power.
I repositioned the gear stick (and handbrake) so it was further back in the car making it easier to reach with the seats slightly further back,
so the cables ended up only just too short so i extended them slightly. Didnt need to get any made.
I did look for some websites though, I just searched for Push/pull cables in google

how did you extend them? we have looked into having new ones made but it will cost about £100 which is would be have what we have spent on the whole car.
many thanks in advance grimmy.

They only needed a few cm, so with the ends being solid steel rod i cut the connector on the end off, and got steel tube that fit over and welded it on,
on one of the cables it had a screw in rod end, so i welded 2 nuts to the end of the tube and then just screwed the bits in (essentially replacing the shorted threaded tube that was already there).

the engine that we got has the normal gear change so we sourced (stole) a cable change from a car in college but it is really short. we need about an extra 3 foot? maybe a little less. at the moment we have put the normal gear stick and then a peice of right angled steel up to a peice of steel on a track rod end. this displeases me muchly as everyone else seems to think its ok but turning round to put it in first gear. any ideas would be greatly apriciated.
regards grimmy.

are you putting a cable change setup onto a rod change box? or have you put a cable change box in the car?
where does the cable change come off of? the rear of the box? or the top?

On my gearbox they come off the top out the back, so i changed the setup around so it now comes off the front and did a similar thing to the gear stick so now it takes the cables into the back rather than the front (this flipped both ends so it all still worked correctly).

It has been mentioned that i could run a bailer or similar powered trailer from it!! :D
but it does have a lever to disengage the rear section.

Aaaah man! I reckon you should use it to drive a big key, like on a wind up toy and have it sticking out of the back! :D
