Can't do the 5 euro's in Carbon unfortunately, uses too much carbon cloth surface area (allowing for wastage) due to there shape and price would be in excess of £200.00 -
I'd love to do them as well.

Ive recently started to do more on her now,
as well as starting a new project.
I have finally got around to sorting the brakes.
After messing around with 8.4" calipers they just wouldnt fit so i had to get some new ones (7.5" Alloy 4 pots).
I got the hubs sand blasted (£10) and have painted them with red caliper paint
because i wanted red calipers but they don't make them (minispares)
so i decided on red hubs and black calipers.
New timken bearings should come on monday, and ive already got new balljoints etc, which leaves me to get the discs turned down
and then finally put it all on the car with the arches.
The enamal works well as its really tough! (and sticky when wet )
I have given them a few coats of it so should be covered.

Why don't you paint the callipers? We used a tin of red hammerite that we painted on using a brush and that worked a treat (pics below). We did that on our Festa race car at colllege. We being me (TWICEmonkey) and Gaz (mini-gti).Thanks,

The new project is like mini-gti's one, i started it about a week or 2 ago when my tubing arrived, had done some planning and made some decissions before hand, so now im just making it. I was a bit unsure if i was going to post the progress as it happend or all at the end, but i guess now is as good as any.
After various design changes and ideas it has unintentionally ended up to some degree similar to the Z-Cars design, only im doing the odd bit differently.
The shape and design has happened because of lengths of certain components and positioning of mounts etc. so its just happened as it fits, and as im not exactly trained in the fabrication business or automotive design i didnt feel 100% comfortable with making my own suspension parts so im using a modified front subframe in the rear so standard mini parts can be used, and it simplifies quite a few things.
Any way on to what ive actually got done so far!!
Ive been taking pics as i go so i have them from the beginning up to now.
Im trying to do as much as possible off the car as i can so i have the car off the road for as little as possible.
So this does affect the order that things are done.
Now lots of pics (17)
From the start theres the standard frame and the engine
then i made a frame around the frame, didnt care if it was square it just needed to hold the certain points in place.
Then i cut lots out of the frame, and tested the engine in place, then cut some more,
then started making the rear part of the frame that ties most of it together.
During the next week as well as fitting my disc brakes ill also be finalizing the rear part of the frame and tacking it in.
Then ill be adding the bars that will tie the Tie bar mounts to the rest of the frame so its whole again.
Then i can get on with engine mounts and strengthening any bits that need it.
Followed by doing any other bits i can do off the car before i cut out the back
Any Questions????

But honestly im impressed, its better than anything i could do at the minute. I need to learn how to weld, then ill start my slow paced honda project! Fancy giving me some lessons?

But when its finished im likely to do it again, then ill need to get a proper job and i have no clue what that could be. Anyone want to offer me a job when ive finished my car?
I havent been welding for that long so i dont think im that good , could give you some pointers for starters, but it might be easier and better to have some night classes, or join the RAF car club (unless there isnt one where you are).

Ive finished the hubs with new ball joints and bearings, and have started cleaning the drive flanges.
Guess i should have had them blasted when i had the hubs done, although i didnt have them off so oh well.
Also done a little more on the frame, but i need some more cutting discs so i couldnt get much done. >
I have now added a bar that goes from under the tower to under the tie rod mount and ill add some plating to strengthen it, when i actually get some plate steel.
I see people looking but not much being said Am I really that boring?

I can 't really figure the frame out at the moment from those pics to be honest.
All looking good though and that suzi engine will be in and turbo'ed in no time!!!!!

There isnt much left of the frame which is probably why its hard to make it out, but in the bottom pic you can see the tie rod mounts, with whats left of the towers further back. On a normal frame the pic would be taken from just below the frame at the front, on the drivers side (if that clears it up anymore).
