Today was a full on head f++k but I am getting there
I forgot to fit the doofer that makes my tank work, now it's in there.
Then it was time to start something so I started with the new Brain of the mk1.
I have had a look over my notes and as my water pump only takes 1.5 amps on full flow, I will not be running it thought a relay.
Next it was MJ time Lucky I had a spare plug for it.
And this is all I have to show for 9hrs worth of work :-/
Thanks for looking.
Simon.

Simon,
Love the attention to detail on this wiring, what an epic job!
I used those deusche connectors in a previous life and they work great (not cheap tho).
Keep up the great work!

I have been working on this for the last 3 days to 3/4am in the morning !
But there is not many plugs left to do
I striped the front loom back down as I did not like the look of it, but I am happy with it now
The rear loom is all done now and fits nice
And the heart of the operation! I just have to work out where my new dash is going then that's it all plugged up
And my new dash made by my bear hands
my lighted stack gauges
That's it for now, thanks for looking.

Simon,
You're doing great work as always. Your binnacle wiring looks so neat and clean that it makes mine look like a total disaster. Thank you for making me feel inferior. Happy now?

Thanks joe, it's all on hold at the min as I am over seas again with work :-/
It's OCD really! It's always the bits that can't be seen that takes the time!!! I will never be happy with it mate lol. I have some more plans for the mk1 before it's proper show the imm, then to see if I can get a low 13sec at MITP.

But it should be all over tomorrow
Some pic updates'
Some bits back from the welder
Then some porting
40bhp in this little bad boy!!
In the car I employed the wife to do the jobs I hate
Didn't she do well!
I got the dash finished
The new dash is starting to go together well
Under the bonnet is going well sort of :-/
Thanks simon.

Most of the day was spent working on the exhaust and getting to fit just as I liked it, up nice and tight.
As It stands tonight, the OCD is getting out of hand now lol.
just needs a good clean out
I just need to fit the back dash cards when I am happy everything is working.
And then I fired it up to get it up to temp to make sure the everything on the dash was working. Only to find out the fan switch is dead :-( so I wasted the rest of the afternoon fault finding Orwell I will order one in a bit.

Absolutly love this Mk1, you've done a superb job no doubt about that.
Just saw the brake and clutch cylinders, wondring were you got them from as I was thinking of this as an alternative to standard Tin ones.

I got it all good to go to IMM but no real shake down was carried out so I stuck it on a trailer, as I would run it in down there.
So anyway we got to the IMM and all was good. I used the time to sort a problem I had with the dip beam and John said "let's go for a little drive". It all started off good and the mk1 was running sweet. Just to point out I had set it to 5psi and that's where I was planning to keep it, when we got on the dual carriageway John said "******* me this is quick" at that point I turned the BIG RED fun button and went to 22psi all was good and the mk1 felt the best it ever has!!! I did have some vids but some one lost his phone :-/
Next day came and we got up and went for a TM road race (who could get To Asda first!) I had Shauna with her GoPro as my co pilot, I am sure some vids might pop up in time.
When we set off back to camp the mk1 was well down on power! I was thinking **** I have seen this before! so we got back and did a TM 1hr head gasket check but all was good hmmmmm then as I bent down pick out a fag I had dropped I saw that the down pipe was hanging off. So I popped it on and I was back in the fight
So I said to Steve come on we will have a test drive on the back road. All was good and it was back to the way it should be and then nothing!!! No drive just lots of revs I had all gears but I could not move :-(
So the TM pit crew was deployed and we cracked open the beers to work out what has gone wrong. We first came up with that it could be the clutch plate let go, so I need a new puller why not have a look here, so Mike and I go and seal the deal on a plate and a puller, as John gets pissed.
All was fine when we pulled it, so I was thinking the pinion nut could of came off, as it had before so we stuck it on the trailer and got on it!
Fast forward a day..
So i pull the engine, and set a new PB should I point out lol, strip it all down but all was good,, very confused so I sat back and had a drink and a fag, then I was thinking maybe the alloy flange had let go, so I give the drive shafts a good wiggle and they were fine. Then I started to look at the balls in the pot joints all was good till one fell off in my hand!!! **** the bed! I had snapped the end of my shaft off!! And it was stuck in the pot joint.
So I stuck the engine back together but as I was doing it upside down I must of mis-aligned it, at first as the mean bolt had hit the windage tray and bent it . As I did not find out until I was doing the flywheel up and I could hear it rubbing so all came apart again :-/
I was pissing about with it with no luck I ripped it out, and moved on with the rebuild, drop it all back in and flushed it with some cheap oil and fired it up
As of tonight it's good to go for a good session on the RR as a good shakedown and to see what it's making
Husband and wife bonding
Back in and new oil in
Fingers crossed I will be running this weekend
Well today went well!
And made this...
It was wheel spinning like mad, even with two of us in it and two sat on the wings lol.
But it made 195bhp and 211 ft lbs of torque on a cool day that's well over the 200
Thanks for looking simon

Finally! Good to hear you made IMM. What drive shafts were you running there?
Also 195bhp is too much. Your car has too many holes drilled through it to hold up to the strain. Best to de-tune it to somewhere below whatever hp my car ends up making. I only want to help you Simon.
