God know, I wouldn't inflict that on him, lol :P

Steel standard length roundnose all the way! :) Heheh - Glad you approve!! :P

The engine also came with ECU, Engine wiring, injection unit & driveshafts!! :)

Not sure when we'll be doing with the injection manifold yet - The whole thing seems to be quite a massive lump & I would rather not cut into the bulkhead... Whether we can modify the manifold itself or use a different setup, we will have to see!

First thing's first is getting it home!! :)

But, I would like to keep it on 10's, it all depends on the gearing & FD - I'm not adverse to putting it on 12's or 13's, but I will have to work out which is going to put less strain on the gears & change the FD and wheel size to suit.

I'll also have to have different dials, as my rebuilt Smiths gauges won't work  *huff* :P

I've read about handling issues with certain subframe set-ups, too - So will have to take a look at that. Hopefully, with the spring suspension & the fact that the van has a longer wheel base, I won't get too many issues.

I'm also pestering Kris to teach me how to weld, too - I really want to do a load of the work myself!! :) :(

I think you'll be on coilover's if you don't keep a mini derived frame.

I'm guessing its a 1.4 honda if its going in the standard mini front? I cant see that putting it on 10's will affect it to much. I'v seen a few people with 1.3 swift engines on 10's.

I'm planning on doing a swift converson to mine and still having it on 10's

It's a 1.6 :)

Thanks, Bungle - Appreciate all the info on the IVA etc - Just trying to battle my way through it now :dontgetit:

Trying to get it all straight in my head, but if I keep the shell whole, then that's 5 points that I've got already? The steering rack will be the same, so that's another 2? ...

Hmm, if modifying the wings for bigger wheels is OK, because they class it as cosmetic and will not effect the structural integrity, why do they have a problem with flip fronts? Or is it just GRP ones that are the issue?

Surely they can't pull me up on the suspension though? It's just replacing the cones for springs? The rest of it is the same? Also ... the driveshafts will be machined Honda ones, but the radius arms will be the same - So will that affect my points for the axles?

Gah, it's confusing, lol.

I didn't think you could fit a 1.6 in a standard size front? I may be wrong. Anyway let me know how you get on with the whole IVA thing as I'll be picking up tips for when I do the swift engine.

It'll be a tight fit - Might have to make the front removable for access though. But it'll definitely be steel regardless. This is why I'm going to have to look into the injection setup - The ones that I have seen in a standard roundnose all have bulkhead modifications, but with this IVA rubbish, I'm not sure how it's going to work yet! Mind you - I think I'm in a sticky situation with the body as it is - At the moment, general consensus is that the inner wings are part of the structure - Hopefully someone will be able to prove otherwise, or at least that the front half can be removed without any impact?

You really do have a way with words, David!

This is turning into a very, very long term project, so I've got time to look in to all these sorts of things. This is my dream Mini - I don't want to get there too quickly & regret something - So I really am open to any suggestions or solutions! Only when you know all the options can you start to rule things out!

Hmm... Reckon Pikey can sort me out with some interesting bits and pieces?
