Hi Stooart!
The gear knob and gaiter has come from a 'Paul Smith' Mini. The gearstick has been heated, and has had a kink put into it to bring it closer to the driver. Then powder coated. Hopefully it'll be in a decent position - I couldn't tell you - My seats aren't even fixed to the floor yet, lol

S-F-M,
The rear wiper conversion on 'Nipper' our GT was a factory-fitted optional extra! As well as the rear fog lights! :P

Thanks for the comments guys, I really do appreciate it! It's nice to know that people like what we're doing! :ermm:

Just a quick update in that I've finally got the MiniSpares order to work! All £525 of it, lol ^_^ :owned: :w00t:

So - I look forward to the pressies in the post!! :P  :P

Bean - your van looks excellent!

Window channels from Somerford £70, Brakes & stuff from Minispares £525, getting Frankie on the road......PRICELESS!

It will all be worth it when you drive it for the first time!

Ok, the rear wiper is pretty straight forward fit, with just one hole drilled into the body, which holds the unit in place and also allows the wiper spindle to move and sweep your screen.

Iirc, you have the main body of the wiper with a spindle, two black rubber grommets to weather proofthe hole, one or two washers and two nuts on the small threaded section. This is used to fit the wiper to the cars body, then the normal wiper motor spindle section where the wiper fits sits on the outside.

All the above info has been taken from my dusty memory of one I had fitted a few years back - but let me know if yours is different?

He's actually over in Malvern, unfortunately! Which is why I was enquiring about someone closer! He's called Mark Field and runs Field's garage in Hanley Swan. He grew up with Minis and knows a fair bit about them - He's got a decent amount of Mini owners that go and see him, apparently! He's a really helpful chap though!

It's just that Malvern is a long way to go for an MOT, lol. Especially if a car fails and you're then paranoid about driving it home!

I live a few miles down the road from the Saffron's place ^_^

Thanks for the reply about the van and the GT! :) I appreciate it so much :)

i sold him the w/motor and have been struggling to remember how it all went together lol,the spindle has the two rubber gromets on but is smooth,i was trying to remember how the arm actually fitted so i could show/tell ed,if you can get close up photo's im sure he'd appreciate it.

as for frankie  i really do need to start making some progress with mine before the rust gets too bad,i pop into this thread now and then for some inspiration or shall i say motivation at how good van's look and what mine could be like,

keep up the good work

Thank you, Guy!

Only a quick update!
The Minispares and Somerford orders arrived on Thursday! So thank you both! Also miniman_andy popped over today to drop off the Cosmic alloys that I bought! I still haven't decided which to use, but I'm edging towards dunlops for the show wheels and cosmics for the winter wheels - It depends how the Dunlops look when I get them back!

I've not even opened the Minispares box yet, so I've not checked it all over or been able to take photos! I've been at a photo-cinematic conference in Derby! :D

Going to Malvern tomorrow, so might have an update after that... but I will take piccies of the Minispares pressies tomorrow! :)

I'm far too tired now, I've not stopped since 9am Thursday! :)

Heylo again! >_<

I bought this at Malvern, yesterday!

Posted Image

Always wanted a Volt gauge, so I can see the condition of my battery, if I've got my laptop/camera on charge - But had yet to find one at a decent price! But at £14 for this one that hasn't even been used ... can't go wrong!! ^_^

We looked at the Minispares order yesterday, too! :)

So...

My brakes!

Posted Image

We bought lots of other things, but didn't really fancy taking loads of photos of everything, lol :P

So - We went down to the van and started to put the seals on! :P

However, when we were clipping them on to the bottom of the rear doors, we found that when the doors were repaired, the holes for the clips had been lost .. So we made some new ones!

And brought out the drill!

Posted Image

Then painstakingly put the 56 clips into the seal and onto the van :P

Posted Image

Posted Image

And also fitted some shiney chrome to the door pockets! :P (sorry about the blurry pic! It was getting dark!)

Posted Image

So, this is how he is at the moment! :)

Posted Image

And, FINALLY, these photos actually show close to his real colour! Because of the lighting in the barn, the colour looks different every time a take a bloomin' photo!! But these latest photos are getting nearer to the real colour of him!

:)

Posted Image

Hope you like! :)

Oh, and I'm thinking about the colour of my engine, as well. I saw a really nice 'EARLY DARK RED' paint colour at Malvern yesterday and am seriously considering that!

Thanks, Chris!

The clips were SUCH a pain! And my fingers were so cold that it really hurt to push them into the channel on the seal, lol - But they do go in to the door with a satistying 'click'! :P

Hope to get the wheels etc back next week, but will have to see what happens with the powdercoater and when they're finished! Just want them done now! Really want to get cracking! ^_^ Should be able to fit the petrol tank soon, too! :)

Looking at maybe getting some HiLos for him. Once that's sorted, I need a couple more suspension bits (mainly for the rear) .. then need to get some radius arms painted up and will hopefully be able to fit the rear subby! :P

There's so much to do though - It's really surprising how many little parts there are that you don't even think about! >_<
