Be aware that you're obstructing the offside rear lights and it looks like a mountain bike would obstruct the nearside rear lights as well, you're fairly unlikely to get pulled for it, but if you're involved in an accident it can cause all kind of problems.

I had a fairly major issue with a rear carrier that was not obscuring the lights, but was after an accident, I was lucky that the car was comprehensively photographed at the scene and i could demonstrate that the carrier had moved over the lights during the accident, but I would strongly advise using a lightboard with that rack.


Is it possible to put the bike on verticaly on these racks? :cry:

i was going to put my bike upside down on the roof and simply rachet strap in to the car

hope u get ur bike back its not good wen that happens

great idea's guys but i think a custom made rack is the way forward for the rear of the car *watch this space :ermm:*

Thanks, you can buy it if you want its on ebay at the moment. Nah front is only flat as i had to let the air out as the tire wouldn't fit in the rack

I'm planning on getting a retro roof rack, putting some wood/metal across the bottom and just placing my bike in there. Couple of ratchet straps to tie it down tight. As long as the rack is rated to take the weight, and I put it in so it's stable and not going to rock I think that's the best idea. Basically make a load bay on my roof.
