Well lets get the ball rolling again and unvail my plans. I have been spending moeny again this week at last on the poor car, quite alot actually.

So far iv got the 10x6" Wellers on the car which fit without modifying the 84." discs though do stick out for miles so I thought I had invest in some better stopping power scene as I going to be needing it eventually. So last night I went and picked up from Manchester these...

Nice shiny Mini sport 4 pots with 7.5" drilled discs and new drive flanges.

I have also been traveling the country (700 miles in fact his last weekend) to go and pick up a 6 point roll cage thanks to Lomcevac for this.

The cage needs a good rub down and paint, but this is perfect for me as I get to choose what color I want it. I shall also be painting with the car in Rustoleum paint.

Other new bits that I have bougth for the car in the last week include a new front bumper, wheel arches, Crystal head lights, and A panels.

The 1330 is currently at Morspeed being honed, and I hopfully plan on gettign that back next week with all new bearings, followers, core plugs to be built back up. I am getting tempted to fit it back in the car for a while untill my funds permit me to start buying the C16SE kit. This could mean the car might actually be able to make it to the ring this year, fingers crossed.

At the moment im keen on going for Saab Merlot Red as seen in the link below, what do you think? Im having problems really as the colour has to go around the whole car with it beign desemed.

Yeah the plan is to paint both the cage and the car. The car will have to be all one colour as its deseamed so no where to stop one colour and start the next.

Last week I got the block back from Morspeed, all nice and clean with a fresh hone, cam bearings, mains and big ends. Its currently being painted red in my living room and stinking the place out (the girlfriend is not happy)but it does look all clean and shiny. This weekend I shall be going back home so chance to bring a few more bits up to Sheffield and so will be building up my engine in my living room. Pictures to come shortly.

Am i right in thinking that the wellers don't actually fit over the brakes,... because they sit outside them :genius: :w00t:

The wellers will fit over them if you grind a bit of the caliper away! Many people have done this. But when I put mine on with my wheel spacers it actually sat the wheel so far out from the brake it didn’t rub. I shall be putting my new calipers, discs and flanges on the wheels will sit much further inboard without spacers and will have no issues with fitting over the 7.5" disc.

As of yesterday I am now the owner of a nice 140,000 mile C16SE Vaux engine.Posted Image

Picking up this weekend with drive shafts, ECU and Loom for just £70. The engine will be oging to morspeed as soon as I have built up and sold my 1330.
Due to the high millage of the Vauxhall engine, It shall be having the usual crank regrind, head rebuild, over bore and new pistons before going in but my main priority next is to get saving for the Allspeed frame.

An update on the engine. I have now collected it and taken it home to the mini.

Over the last weekend I managed to strip most of it down including the gearbox, inlet manifold and exhaust manifold off(with a bit of help from the grinder).

Next time im home I hope to change the A pannels and start to strip the paint off. The paint will also be coming off the cage ready to paint up the same colour as the engine.

Getting the engine in the Seicento with 4 people was difficult, getting it out with 2 was going to be impossible so I decided to trip the gearbox off and flywheel off while it was in the car (which was much easier than the A series) It also gave the rear suspension on the Seicento a chance to recover. Getting up hills with that in the back was a 3rd gear affair at times.

Next decision is which gearbox to go for. The F13 from the 1.5TD corsa or the F15 from the diesel astra. The F 13 has a longer final drive which will help on the motorway to the ring but the F15 will help alot more on 0-60times and still top out around 125mph which is plenty, being muchy more usefull on the track.

Tim - I wanted to talk to you about gearboxes - if you're running on tens I don't think the TD F15 is the right one to go for, its too low geared in 1st for it to be much use, and 2nd is just that little bit too high to do a comfortable standing start with. Admittedly its nice for cruising in 5th - 3.5k RPM at 70mph.

I'm going to be putting an F15 from a X16XE engined car in mine soon, and will compare the ratio's. I think first will be a lot more usable, and I reckon it'll be doing about 4k RPM at 70mph. It might just be enough to justify an oil cooler if you're doing long motorway stints (like BH2N etc) but I think it'll be worth it.

PM/text/call me if you want to talk more about it as I've been giving it lots of thought recently!

Oh, and the Seicento did well!!!

So the ratios vary on the F15's then? I only thought you could get the WR and CR versions. I may try and source an F13 then just to try. They are cheap enough and after this last weekend seem so easy to change! Will PM you Tom and lunch time. Oh and another quick question Tom, did you have any problems getting the engine in the stand? Iv got it in but only with 2 bolts and it can't revolve 360 degrees:(
