i had a chucker 2.0

Blimey, going a ways back there :P.

I've still got my Chucker. It's a good bike but it's about due a new bottom bracket and some other bits and bobs as it creaks like a barn door at the moment. Might get it sorted over winter while I'm not riding it. Mini first though :).

Cheers Ed! The other side is almost there now too then I'll just have the bottoms to sort out.

I bought myself a DA sander today ready to start the prep work. There's no way I was going to get all that old paint off by hand. Strongly considering taking it down to bare metal. If not it will definitely be going down to the original paint or primer so I'm working off something reliable.

The more I think about the painting, the more daunting it seems.

Deep breaths Adam, deep breaths. Haha.

Are you going to paint it yourself Adam? With the patience you've exhibited on the other aspects of the car, I can't imagine you having any problems :)

Yeah, I'm painting her myself and I will take any luck that's going spare haha.

Cheers :). There's a fair bit of prep work to get done before I even go near it with any primer or paint but we will get there. I know it's all in the prep so I'm going to do my best with it.

Been a loooong time since my last update sadly but I've not felt much like working on Elliot. I think my enthusiasm is on its way back so the pace should pick up again with a bit of luck.

Posted Image
Shortened the back leg of the split pin down so it wasn't getting in the way.

Posted Image
Temporarily installed the damper bracket to ensure clearance when fitting the arch shield.

Posted Image
Fitted fresh air ducting, again to ensure clearance.

Posted Image
Distibution box.

Posted Image
Shield fitted in place.

Posted Image
And at the front.

Posted Image
The plastic arch fits over the shield and wing lip to secure the shield.

Posted Image
Started on the other side with removing the paint from the threads on the damper mounting. Had to stop there as I couldn't find the passenger side damper mount.

Posted Image
Measured and marked where I need to make a hole in the inner wing to allow the side repeater wiring to pass through.

Posted Image
Did the same on the other side.

That's all for today.

Thanks for looking :).

Wahey! Arch liners look good, I'll add them to my car when it gets some new panels. I don't know how you keep losing inspiration Adam, you're at the point of putting it back together :P

Do those arch guards fit well Adam and are they bolted in place or riveted??

Arch liners are looking good, can't wait to get mine installed! Definitely a worth while investment.

Thanks guys :).

It takes a bit of trimming to get them to fit nice and snug but you can get them really snug if you take your time. I've secured mine in place using self tappers in to the inner wing/flitch panel.

Are you also securing them in place on the arch lip, or using the arch itself to sandwich it all together when you fix that in place?

I'll be sandwiching them between the arch and the lip on the wing. In all honesty, they're so stiff when you secure them at the back I don't think they'd need any additional support. The arch will just keep it all tidy.

Yeah I'm using standard side repeaters. Just I replaced the inner wings and the replacement panels didn't have the cut outs for the wiring to go to the wings.
