Glad you're enjoying the read :).

Looking at your signature, you've got a garage. That's more than I had when I started :P. I borrowed the garage off my friends parents.

Get a project and get stuck in sir!

She will be on the road before the end of 2011. I won't let it roll over in to 2012, I refuse! Haha.

Plus, I've told myself I'm not allowed to apply for any jobs until Elliot is finished, so I can devote all my time to her.

Are you running internal brake/fuel lines? If not then you may want to fit them before the subframe ;)

Nah, regular lines.

I was hoping I could thread it up behind before I bend it all to shape. I'll fit them tomorrow then, cheers for the heads up Graeme :).

Good progress , been a while since I've been on here. Just another point on the pot joints, aren't you meant to cable tie the boot to the shaft before you slot the shaft into the joint, then double back the boot and cable tie it to the housing, if that maks sence? Other wise, I'd have thought you would get grease leaking out of the boot around the shaft.

I know what you're saying. I've followed the haynes manual and I believe it's correct how I've done it.

I'm trying to think how I can explain how it works but words are failing me completely.

You've got the opening in the pot which the inner member/ball cage assembly goes inside, which leaves a gap where the grease can escape. The gaitor goes from the outside of the pot to the outside of the inner member. The hole where the driveshaft goes in is sealed like the back of the pot. So the drive shaft doesn't actually come in to contact with the grease, unlike the CV end.

I think they made it like that so it's easy to split from the gearbox without needing to dump the oil or replace the gaitor on the joint. Shame they don't do something similar on the CV end.

Sadly I made next to no progress today. Every job I started I managed to hit some sort of road block somewhere along the line so a few jobs are started and not finished.

I took a few pictures of what I did do.

Driver Side camber arm fitted.

Same on the passenger side.

More tomorrow!

Thanks for looking :).

Every little gets you there. That front subframe looks smashing. Your page has always been helpful and lets us ones further behind see what's ahead. I'm looking forward to doing my subframes.

Keep at it Deathrow
