Long overdue update but here we are:

Posted Image
Got that plate off eventually.

Posted Image
Removed the tabs that hold the fuel line and brake lines as I'll be using P clips instead.

Posted Image
Got the majority of the cutting done here.

Posted Image
Cleaned up the majority of the floor.

Posted Image
The small bit of rot in the battery box.

Posted Image
Plate on the other side is the same :/.

Posted Image
Chopping complete!

Posted Image
Battery box welded up.

Nearly there now!

Apparently, they're what the rear subframe is supposed to crash in to if the rubber mounts are well and truely worn out.

I don't intend to put them back. I'm using hardened mounts and I'm not in the habbit of letting things like that get to that stage of knackeredness.

They are where the hydrolastic bumpstops would meet with the car.
They were never deleted from the shells once dry suspension was brought back in.

No harm in me leaving them off then I guess.

They're right rust traps!

Fabulous work here, as always. Long overdue catch up with your project.

Get cracking though, I want to see the end result after a long time loving that signature image :-

Wish I could oneday weld and repair as well as you can!

I did go down to the garage last Thursday but it was very short and sweet I'm afraid.

Posted Image
Made this repair patch.

Went to tack it in place and broke my welder, wire stuck in the contact tip, tried to remove it and the tip sheared off in the swan neck of the gun.

Anyway, I ordered a new swan neck from weldequip, which arrived blisteringly quick so I'll be back in business next time I'm free to get some work done on her .

Well, been to the garage again today, not much joy :/

Posted Image
Started taking the welder to bits to repair it only to find I'd been sent the wrong part so no welding today.

Posted Image
Needed to get rid of this.

Posted Image
All removed.

That was it for today sadly, hoping that I can get the correct part for the welder and crack on next week. I've got to the point where I just want to get it done.

Thanks for looking :(.

A contact tip sheared off in the end. Tried drilling it out but couldn't get the remains of the copper tip out of the threads, gave up in the end.

The plot thickens anyway, turns out I ordered the right part, it's just been manufactured incorrectly so they're sending me a new one out tomorrow. Might be able to crack on with it on Saturday, depends how much work I have left to do and if I go out Friday night.

I can't reccomend Weldequip enough! They've got really fast shipping and awesome customer service.

Oh I know! They're a nightmare!

If there is one thing I don't like doing, it's laying on my back holding a grinder above me :)
