I would go for the stonechip rather than underseal. If you seam seal all of the joints then stonechip over it then it will give a strong finish plus if you really want to you can paint over it. Personal choice though as thats what i will be doing to Erm.

Thanks for all the support everyone and I'm glad you're all enjoying the read, not long to go now!

sonikk, the plan for the underside is to clean it all up, etch where neccesary, prime, seam seal, paint, then underseal it all. I'm not just applying underseal over the bare steel. I was going for underseal for its oily quality to keep the moisture out. There have been some places on Elliot where the stonechip has let water underneath and its made a right rust sandwich.

Here's a perfect example:

That's what scares me about stonechip :|.

Righto, todays update:

Posted Image
Cleaned up all the welds on the repair sections.

Posted Image
Drilled the heelboard end ready for fitment.

Posted Image
Got the car all level again so that I can once and for all check that everything is straight before I weld it up.

Tomorrow will be filled with measuring, but with some luck by the end of it I can happily say it's all lined up correctly with the new heelboard ends.

Thanks for looking .

Great work, looks like the body is nice and solid now. My windscreen support pannel part is just like yours was and the stone chip hadn't done much to help, was it much of a job to fix? keep up the good work.

It wasn't too bad an area to fix as there is a repair panel available, the non genuine variety fit perfectly too so no need to shell out for heritage in this case .

Yeah, the stonechip was hiding the fact it was rotten, it looked fine until i gave it a poke. That's my motive for underseal, it's so sticky and oily, and it won't disguise rust.

Well here's todays work, but it was all measuring so I've only taken 2 pictures.

Me, hanging out with some red oxide primer.

Measurements I took.

This is good news as it shows the car is still nice and square. Now I can focus on getting the welding finished, tomorrow I'll get that heelboard welded in place properly and with some luck, start fabricating the closing panel for the passenger side too.

Thanks for looking :P.

Face your fears Ed :).

Should be alright though, no rot to deal with so it should have remained straight.
