I think yours need more extensive work than mine though Luke.

I'm leaving the reinforcing bracket in place and removing the skin off the back and replacing it. Surface rust has started to form inbetween the 2 pieces and I want to prolong the life of it.

Oh I know, but it'll be good to have some detailed photos of what goes where and how it should all look when it's finished.

Ah ok, well I shall do my best!

I'm going to be measuring measuring measuring to make sure I get it all in the right place again, although it shouldn't be too much trouble since I'm not removing the nuts that hold the bolts.

I'm figuring out the best way to proceed here now. Will start tomorrow with taking many measurements.

You need a new heelboard homie! you can use your subframe for alignment, so long as you have the rear mount holes intact. M machine do all the panels for that area, they're good too.

I've bought some sheet steel, I'm only replacing the skin part of it to about 2 or 3 inches inwards. beyond that the heelboard is solid as the day it was formed.

I've got holes at the rear, but they've been drilled by me using the subframe as alignment using these mountings.

Just called M-Machine, heelboard end panels have been ordered.

Pete, I don't suppose you recall if the bolts are metric or imperial on the panels do you? If they're metric I'll be wanting to replace them with imperial, haha.

I've no doubt when I cut out the heelboard ends there will be some more fettling I'll want to do in the surrounding area, but I've still got quite a bit of sheet metal so that's no worry. If I do run out I'll just have to find somehwere locally to get it.

Behind schedule now, I wanted to be welding the sills on this coming Monday, doh. Oh well, as long as I get it painted before the end of September, I'm happy.

Luke, looks like you're getting a full guide to the heelboard ends afterall ^_^.

Yay

are the heelboard ends you are buying £25 each? I bought some from Mini Sport when I did my big order.. but they seem to be the cheapy patch type things.. not the actual full ends.

Ed, you're right, it was the right choice. It was just the dread of doing it clouding my judgement.

Jackal, cheers mate :D. I had a choice, I could fix it myself or it'd be off to the scrappy, I made the Mini loving decision hehe.

Luke, the ones I ordered are the pattern ones from M-Machine, I'll take some pictures for you when they come, the ones Mini Sport and Mini Spares sell appear to just be flat sheet with bolts on the back, I believe the ones from M-Machine have the lips for going under the floor and stuff. Will find out when they arrive .

As turn of events had it, I've sold my fiberglass flip front and bonnet now and also managed to get a good condition metal bonnet as well so that's one thing less to worry about.

Still some bits and bobs I'm trying to hunt down, acctually, just had a thought! Luke, PM incoming!

Yep they are the ones I've got.. unfortunately my ends are too far gone for the panels I've ordered, if the ones you've got on the way are the ones I have in my mind, I'll go ahead and get those.

As long as you're not thinking of the heritage half heelboards? Those are significantly more. These I've ordered were £13+VAT each :D.

The last lot of panels I had from m-machine have been great.
