Cheers Luke :P. Done some more today:

Posted Image
Finished neatening up the seams on the wings and seam sealed.

Posted Image
Passenger side.

Posted Image
Removed the bracket off the bulkhead brace.

Posted Image
A worthwhile move I feel!

Posted Image
Cleaned up the bulkhead.

Posted Image
And the bracket.

Posted Image
Kurust applied to bulkhead.

Posted Image
And the bracket.

I think the best way to go about putting it back on is if I finish prepping the remainder of the bulkhead, etch and prime and then weld the brackets back on before the remaining coats of primer. Once it's back on I'll seam seal it to prevent this ever happening again.

First job tomorrow is to remove the steering rack bracket and do a similar procedure on that.

Thanks for looking :P.

lol this isnt bad, my plans when I get home are a bit more extreme, I have to open up most all boxed sections to take care of rust... hopefully I can get some pictures.

More:

Posted Image
Steering rack bracket removed.

Posted Image
Grotty.

Posted Image
Bulkhead quickly cleaned up.

Took longer than I expected to remove the bracket. More progress tomorrow. I'd like to get the bulkhead and under the wings in their first coat of primer before I come home.

Thanks for looking >_<.

She's lookin' mighty purdy!!

Just one question, what do you with the Kurust after you've applied it and allowed it to do it's magic? Sorry if I sound like a complete moron asking that

I sand it off again (as it's job is done once it's dry) prior to etch and primer.

I think you can prime straight over the top but I find it usually drys quite rough.

I can't take credit for that, it was sonikk4 who suggested it and he was very very right!

Thanks! Big help as I've just bought tub of the stuff. I'm looking forward to seeing more of Elliot in the future because you're doing an absolutely spanking job

Cheers Greg :D.

More progress today:

Posted Image
I think I've had my moneys worth here!

Posted Image
Got the rest of the bulkhead stripped.

Posted Image
Kurusted the whole thing.

Posted Image
There was a bit of stonechip I'd missed here.

Posted Image
Sorted that out.

Now it was mentioned in another thread the negative affects of blocking up the fresh air vents but that it didn't matter as long as the heaters fresh air feed was maintained. Some of you might remember, I welded my fresh air vents and my heater feed up. After some thought I decided the best thing to do would be leave the fresh air vents welded up but remove the cover from the heaters fresh air feed.

Posted Image
Welded up.

Posted Image
Patch removed. Took me a while as my welds were pretty strong which can only be a good thing.

I don't intend to employ the full system of hoses for the fresh air vent. I'm going to get the pipe which joins to the hole in the inner wing and leave it at that. I won't have to worry about crud getting flung in to the pipe as I'm strongly considering investing in some wheel arch liners anyway.

Thanks for looking, should get the bulkhead and under the wings in primer tomorrow :).

Love it! I think ill be doing this amount of rustproofing when i get round to getting the bean back on the road...

you could just put some mesh over the hole in the heater intake, stop stuff getting in....

oh, PS, i recon there is more life left in that wire wheel :D lol

My worry was water splashes and the like Ed. Plus, I'd like the intake of it facing forward so that it acts as a ram intake.

Basically what's got me to do this is the idea that with no fresh air entering the car the air inside is going to get very moist very fast and thus is going to start the rotting process again on a much larger scale. Plus, having a fresh air feed to the heater means I can have fresh cool air blowing in if I so choose without the need for the rust seeker air vents.

Well, some more progress today! However, my camera died upon turning it on so crappy phone pictures incoming!

Posted Image
Rubbed down all the bulkhead and arches and etch primed bare metal areas.

Posted Image
Primer applied under the arches and to the bulkhead.

I think I want to apply at least one or two more coats of primer before I think about putting any black on there.

Elliot's looking much better! You and Sonikk have got me worried about what I'll find around my steering rack mount, although I think it has a nice coat of engine oil all over it! Have to have a look tomorrow while I'm trying to get my floor to fit!
