Right, this is going to be a long one, got 28 pictures to go up, haha. Here goes.
This was a few weeks ago, thought I'd document the occasion because it's very very rare in Lancaster to have 3 Minis in sight at once, let alone parked in a row. The guy came out and said to me and my friend "Nice cars" we stood there with massive grins on our faces. Mini owners are just cool .
Rolled her out the garage.
This is where she's being kept while I carry out the work that needs doing. I'm very appreciative that my friend and his dad have agreed to let me use their garage now we've cleared it out and give it power.
From inside the garage.
Right, on to the rusty bits, which is the part that's going to take a while haha.
Passenger door, doesn't matter as I have a replacement waiting to be reskinned and put on.
Passenger a-panel.
Passenger sill, oversill will be coming off and replaced with genuine sills after the damage they've caused is corrected.
Passenger rear quater, below window.
Passenger rear quater, in front of rear arch.
Driver rear quater, below window.
Driver rear quater, in front of rear arch.
Driver sill, same as passenger will be replaced with genuine.
Driver a-panel.
Driver door, same as passenger, I have a replacement to go on.
Driver door step.
Passenger door step.
Passenger floor, rust caused by the silly oversills. REMEMBER LADIES AND GENTS, BUY GENUINE SILLS.
Same area, you can see the floor through there.
i give you credit for taking it on lol some of thoose bits are hard to sort
im about to scrap a mini that has less rust than that 1 but has been raced so its preety much knackerd
shame mine isent going to live that long as its a tidy car lol

I think in a way though I've got lucky, it's got sound running gear and electrics, I can see where the body is bad and where it needs repairing. On the other hand, my friend bought a Mini with a good body and it breaks down every 5 minutes because of a shoddy wiring job my the previous owner. I think we'll be spending many many more hours on his electrics yet haha.
I've been measuiring and I think I'm going to mount my 6.5" components on the inner wheel arch, just under the bottom dash rail, I don't think they'll be in the way so much there, relatively out of view to thieves and should give a decent sound stage.

Thanks again, more progress soon I hope .

Final trimming and cutting to get the patch to fit.
Needed to repair this before I continued with the floor and inner sill.
Patched, albeit not very well.
Patch tacked in place.
Seam welded where required.
Plug welded to the door step.
Quickly ground the welds down a little, only had time to do a small section properly but it shows the weld has penetrated right through and I'll be able to dress them nicely.
Cleaned up edges of the boot lid frame ready for bonding.
Tiger seal applied, skin positioned and clamped on.
That's all the pictures from last Monday.
Don't think I'll be getting any work done until after the new year has arrived now, but you never know. I think I might stay home and work on my speaker enclosures.
Thanks for looking.

But with now a New Year, I am going to devote most of my weekends on the Mini to celebrate mine and its 30th birthday in August.
Keep up the ggod work and I look forward to seeing pictures of the finished article in May.

Sounds like a typical Mini adventure that .Hi just read your thread. It is really inspiring I started what was meant to be a simple quick restore of my Mini about 18 months ago only to find the both inner wings where serverly holed, and rusted. So decided to replace both inner wings complete with front floor pans, wings, front panel and outer sills. The reason it's taken so long is that I bought an Alfa as my everyday car and spend most of the year trying to keep it running. I also got sidetracked and done a complete stereo install in the Alfa, albeit the install is good.

Yeah, I'm hoping I can get it done for May, at least to have it back on the road, which means the bodywork must be finished. I don't mind working on the mechanicals after that.
I guess it'll never be completely finished, they never are.
Good luck with your Mini too chap .

I've got a small bet on with a friend about if the car will be in an MOTable state by the end of May. I think it will, but I'm not going to rush it for the sake of £2 but we'll see.
Progress soon.

In other news however, Jordie and TukTuk came down to Lancaster today to bring me a nice 1275 block, pistons, rods, crank and a bunch of other bits to get me on my way to building a nice reliable (cough) 1275. Thanks again guys for coming down, it was really fun to have a chat with some fellow Mini owners .
I'm going to try again to get to the garage this weekend to do some work, but again, it's all down to the weather. Not the best time of year for it I guess .

It's finding time and the weather mate. The car is in a garage but there's not enough room to work in there, not on the sills and stuff anyway.looks good do some more work on it lol
I've got every wednesday free after 12, I'm going to start heading to the garage instead of sitting in my Uni room, weather permitting of course.
