Cheers man :).

But your car is beautiful, you've no need to go welding it back to health.

I'll come do the welding for you if you put a VTEC in mine for me ;). Haha.

Didn't get chance to post up yesterdays progress last night so here it is now:

Posted Image
As I left it previously.

Posted Image
Welded up.

Posted Image
Making sure the arch still fits, which means the curve of the lip is correct.

Posted Image
Checking front.

Posted Image
Cleaned up welds a little more to ensure clearance between the subframe and the closing panel here.

Posted Image
Patch panel made.

Posted Image
Tacked in place.

That was it for Saturday!

Now here is todays bits:

Posted Image
How I left it yesterday.

Posted Image
Finished cleaning up the mess I made with the last valance closing panel.

Posted Image
Valance now sits in the right place again.

Posted Image
Working my way round the patch with small welds. Still more to do, but this is not to be rushed.

Posted Image
So spent some time wire wheeling the passenger side wheel arch, still needs alot of cleaning along with the rest of the underside of the back end.

Thanks for looking guys and girls! We'll get there soon!

I'm not sure which show I'll be at next, whichever it is, I intend for it to be in Elliot. It'll probably be heading in to the summer time. I can always pop over and see you anyway since you're not too far.

Yeah roll on easter holidays! I'm going to have a lot of revision to be getting on with in that time but I'll reserve that work for the evenings. I'm hoping by the end of easter I can have the welding finished and have her painted so I can start reassembling :).

Cheers Fiona :o. How is that fine Mini Peter did for you doing?

I've been to the garage with one of my Uni friends today, he offered to give me a hand getting the rear subframe in place.

Posted Image
Bolted the frame on at the heelboard end and jacked it up to the car.

Posted Image
Valance clamped in place.

Posted Image
Checking clearance with a closing panel.

I'm going to have a good go at putting the valance in place on Thursday, all being well.

Thanks for looking .

Just got back from the garage for the day. Early I know, but it's freezing out and I stopped beign able to feel my toes. I have a lecture this afternoon anyway. Here are the pictures:

Posted Image
Started to prepare the rear valance because the way I'm positioning the closing plates now, it's likely the valance will be going on and staying on.

Posted Image
Plus the primer hadn't stuck too well in places.

Posted Image
Bare metaled.

Posted Image
Etched.

Posted Image
Red oxided.

Posted Image
Drying in the none existant sun.

Posted Image
Finished welding the patch in here and ground the welds down.

Posted Image
Skimmed with filler.

Still much to do as you can see. I will be alot happier once the rear valance is welded on though. Then I can drop the frame out and get the underside of the boot floor cleaned ready for repainting and undersealing. Then the next time the frame goes on, it won't be coming off again :).

Thanks for looking :).

Todays work:

Posted Image
Valance clamped in place so I could make sure the closing panels clear the subframe.

Posted Image
Valance dropped out so I could remove the subframe.

Posted Image
Passenger side.

Posted Image
Driver side.

Posted Image
Second piece tacked in on passenger side.

Posted Image
Second piece tacked in on driver side.

Posted Image
Valance removed again.

Posted Image
Passenger side.

Posted Image
Driver side.

Posted Image
Passenger side welded up, ground back and seam sealed.

Posted Image

Posted Image
Underneath, passenger side.

Underneath, driver side.

Next time I go around I'll be priming the lot and getting it all nice and protected for putting the rear valance on for good. After that there is some grinding to do here and there to clean things up and make it a clean shop. The whole underside of the boot floor will be cleaned, primed and painted before the subframe goes back on again.

EDIT: I also placed a Mini Spares order with everything I need to rebuild the rear subframe, bar some bolts, which I need to find locally it would seem as they're high tensile and MS only has regular ones, sadly.

Thanks for looking =].
