to be honest i wouldn't of mentioned that it was fibreglass.... lol

you wont need mesh behind your holes... Elliot is black and it will be dark under there :errr: i agree with carboy001 and it would look tacky...

and i also think that price is reasonable for ball joints... however i do all my work myself... never really paid for anything!! :)

Yeah I suppose that's fair call.

We'll see how I go, I'm not cutting holes in it to find it won't pass with it like that either haha.

I asked him Ed because I didn't want him to find it and tell me I had to rip it all back off. I'm probably better off with metal anyway to be honest.

I'll place the order now.

Ordered a bunch of bits last night, basically everything I believe I need to put my rear subframe back together, except brake pipes, I might invest in some copper pipe and a flaring tool so that I can make up my own from copper. Oh and a metal valance too, of the non genuine variety. If it doesn't fit, I'll modify it until it does. I'll make my own closing plates when they're £25 each!

I've been thinking, I'd love to make my exhaust exit through a hole in the valance, but I don't think it's possible while keeping the rear subframe.

Ages since i checked in on this one, enjoyed getting back up to date.

By the way,i dont think the £90 is too bad for the ball joints.

£90 is good, it'd take at least an hour to do properly.

Around here you pay £50+ an hour any way!

Project is looking good.

Do you want a non gen rear valance to play with? I've got one in the garage you can have, I did cut it down the middle in attempt to get it to fit, but then went fibreglass.

It might be helpful if you're just going to use it to close up the ends I guess.

Cheers for the offer Dave but I've already got a metal valance to replace the FG one.

I'll just stick with good old steel and look after it properly. I imagine you'll be ok because you'rs is bonded on, no one will ever know.

I'll tell you what I'm not doing right now, I'm not looking at Vauxhall conversions...

She needs finishing and getting on the road first though. I fear it's now too cold for me to paint her so it might have to wait until it starts to warm up again

My FG valance is far stronger than your average rusty mini that'll still pass an MOT! I've got the genuine closing panels with reinforcing plate also, the rear subframe mount is 4 layers thick.

If it fails I'll be suprised

That's what I was going to have, but my MOT man said that you can't have the closing panels without having metal closing the open ends of them off, fiberglass isn't structural.

Was kind of annoying but heh, I'll just have to stick to the metal one.

Sorry for the distinct lack of updates lately. Not really felt up to working on Elliot, been moving in to my new Uni house, sorting bus passes, bills, internet, etc. I think it's probably become too cold to paint Elliot this year now unless I can find someway to heat the garage enough.

I am planning to head round to the garage this weekend if the weather permits so that I can get the boot floor closer toi being complete.
