Yes, the colour change on Elliots banner now means she is going to be VW Brilliant orange with black arches, black roof and black wing mirrors. The wheels will be black too, but somoen put forward the idea of me doing them satin black, so I'm mulling that over at the moment.
Hehe, I'm glad you like, I think she's going to look damn fine.
I shall write up todays work.

Made a start on repairing the rear panel bumper lip.
All welded in.
Ground back.
Time to sort out this arch.
Repair section from doner car.
Mess chopped out.
2 repair pieces tacked in place.
Welded up.
Ground back and etch primed.
I've still the wheel side of the arch to clean up with the grinder, but since it's going to be mostly hidden under stone chip it won't get too much attention before I leave it, as long as it's strong I'm happy. Thats all for today. At a quick count, I believe I have 6 or 7 small patches to do before I can put the entire boot floor back in. Cross your fingers for good weather over the next 2 weeks!
Thanks for looking .

Can't wait to see you get cracking with yours. Might even have to come over for a peak when Elliot is done , especially since you're only about 45 mins away.
Off to the garage now.

Holes in wheel arch turret.
Rot chopped out and a repair made.
All welded in.
And ground back.
That's the passenger side arch sorted, I don't think it needs any more work other than cleaning up on the underside, rust treating for protection, and then getting ready for some stone chip on the underside to protect it all.
State of the driver side arch.
Wire wheel on the grinder left me with this.
Rust treated the lot.
I started to make a patch for the rot in the turret on this side, i was about to weld it in and found another hole a few cm to the left of it so I'm going to cut that out and make another patch and weld them both in together. Then there is just the top bit to do and this arch is sound.
After that is done theres 2 tiny patches to do in the rear panel and then the boot floor can start to go back in. If the weather stays nice I'll go and get some done tomorrow, even though it's Sunday.
Thanks for looking .

Haha, yeah, you wouldn't want me screaming copy cat at you would you .lol i did the same with the rust treatment, painted the whole boot floor with it as well before red oxide and underseal!
I really should get on with mine, then I won't have to start copying you!
Woo for rust treatment, what the pictures don't show you is that I painted my arch repair and the rear panel lip with it as well, oh and my hand, which is still a bit purple :/.

Dirty water pump.
Slightly cleaner water pump.
Water pump installed, head studs screwed in and head gasket in place.
Nice new kevlar reinforced bypass hose and jubilee clips to hold it all tight.
Head in place.
Rocker gear installed and head all torqued up.
Rocker cover installed for the hell of it.
There aren't many things needed to be done now. Basically:
Clean up diff and reinstall on gearbox.
Bend over lock tab for camshaft nut.
Bend over lock tab for flywheel nut.
Install bell housing.
Paint timing cover and install.
Set valve clearances.
Clean up and install the smaller gubbins.
Thanks for looking .
