Ah those brace bars look good, I've been thinking about how I can get some energy out of a crash when I fit a flip-front, keeping the engine out of my face is definately a bonus. Had any more safety ideas?

Those seats look great dude, what are your plans for the gearbox? Sorry if you've already mentioned it!

What happened with the valance? Mine wasn't quite wide enough, but I'm in the process of smoothing it in with fibreglass anyway, not ideal.

Cant wait to see the results you get with the Earlex 3000,i really want to get one of these to do a Full Respray on Boris :o

Looking good and all those Shiny Bits :)

Boris is soo Jealous!!!!

Huggz
Jodie :closed:

Well going by the results I've seen from other members (Adcuz, Drummerian and THedoobZ) it should be able to give a good finish. THedoobZ especially has seen some lovely results, he recent;y did a boot lid for his Mini and it didn't even need flatting :genius:. Keep an eye out, I'm not sure when I'll be starting with the gun but I'm hoping sooner rather than later. I need to find an orange paint I like so I can get some ordered ;).

Boris needant be jealous, Elliot's got a lot of bling bling but it's only to cover up the fact she aint much of a looker (for now) hehe.

looking good looking good. wish i had the finance available to get mine moving!!

good luck!! ;)

Thanks mate! Joys of a student loan :genius:.

...even if it is mostly gone now :-.

Gearbox is getting new baulk rings and the center oil pickup and put back together, should be all it needs.

Basically, the valance wasn't packed properly, it arrived simply wrapped in bubble wrap and not in a box which I was told it should have. Anyway, as a result, the end where the top lip meets the bottom lip of the valance at the corner, the lip has been damaged, a 1cm section is missing.

I've sorted it out with Arc Angels, I told them I've no problem repairing it myself if they refund me a bit so they've refunded me £10 for it, which I see as being fair as everyone makes mistakes at the end of the day, it's how they deal with them that tells us what sort of business they are :genius:.

I hope mine isn't too short or I'll have even more work to do! Oh well, if it is, it is.

Thanks for looking guys :genius:.

Nothing massively interesting here but I managed to pick these up on eBay:

17 Mini Special wheel nuts.

Wanted the proper ones so I was waiting for a set to come up when GraemeC spotted these on eBay, got them for about £16 delivered which is apparantly alot cheaper than what most people ask for them so all good on that front. Didn't do any work on Elliot this weekend because I've just generally not felt up to it and I have an exam on monday to revise for.

I did however go and take some videos in my mums mini to try and lighten my mood, these can be found here:

Feel free to add me as a friend on Facebook too, just say you're off TMF :D.

Yeah they look awesome!

The drive flanges especially are gorgeous but I can't help but fear they're going to go rusty as hell so I'm considering masking off the splines and stuff and spraying them up so they stay pristine :dontgetit:, plus they'd look awesome!

Yeah shiny stuff in the post is the best! Shame it hurts the bank balance so much. Will be amazing to see it all come together though.

Yeah I thought I'd got them for a good price .

I'll have a look through your project soon, got some revision to get done for tomorrow first .

Good find on the special wheel nuts, I was after a set for ages but wasn't going to pay the silly prices some people are asking for them.

I've got a good set of special alloys in my shed that I am keeping for a future project.

Do the special alloys fit over Cooper S calipers?

Apparantly so.

I do have a picture kicking about of them sat over Mini Sport 4-pots on 7.5 discs. And I have heard they fit over a 7.9 vented setup, nut don't quote me on that!

They are really nice looking wheels! Shame they don't come in 6 inch wide.

You could always get Force Racing to make them into 6" wide split rims!

I smear my drive flanges with a light coating of grease. I think if you painted them the paint will get marked very quickly by the wheel.

Righty, it's been a while but I've been busy with Uni stuff so I've not had much chance to work on Elliot.

However, over the past few days, since I finished my exams I've been working a little on Elliot as well as buying some bits and bobs that I still need to get her finished how I want her. Here are some pictures, apologies as they are a mix and match of a few different days so progress is not neccesarily in the correct order:

Posted Image
More gearbox stripping.

Posted Image
Main shaft and gears out.

Posted Image
The grille I bought ages ago but forgot to take a picture of for the log.

Posted Image
A picture to show that the ring lamps are a mm too big for the holes in the grille.

Posted Image
After some careful persuasion with a stanley knife the lamps fit very snuggly.

Posted Image
Empty, yet dirty gearbox outside ready for some white spirit.

Posted Image
After white spirit and scrubbing as well as a go over with the pressure washer.

Posted Image
Paint stripper applied to my new breathers.

Posted Image
Casing dried with compressed air for the most part and scrubbed breathers.

Posted Image
And lastly my new tachometer for my now rethought dashboard (I won't show any plans, I'll just let it come together ).

In more good news, the skip has now been taken away so I can get Elliot in and out of the garage so I shall be getting back to the bodywork very soon, I'm talking end of this week, start of next we should be seeing some steady progress again.

Keep watching guys >_<.
