Not alot going on at the minute because of University but here are some pictures of my gearbox progress (which isn't alot I'm affraid, but I'll have more time from now on):

Posted Image
Gearbox on the desk after being pressure washed and dried out. (Please note my blatant go faster sticker on my laptop, I say sticker, but it's actually a stamp).

Posted Image
Roller bearing.

Posted Image
And removed. Had to stop at this point as I didn't have the correct socket for the bolt at the other end.

Posted Image
So I resorted to trying to clean the transfer casing, didn't get very far as my method was all wrong.

Posted Image
Got back on the gearbox today.

Posted Image
Other bolt removed now I have the correct socket, which for other peoples reference is actually a Mini balljoint socket, it's the correct size and depth for the job.

Posted Image
Oil pickup and laygear (I believe) removed.

Posted Image
Reverse gear removed and direction noted.

I did actually get the first motion shaft bearing out aswell but no pictures of that.

I now need to make a special tool in order to get the double bearing out at the other end. Then I can get the gears out themselves, strip the lot down and replace the baulk rings and put the whole thing back together. There hasn't been any wear of any kind anywhere so far (except the baulk rings) so happy days.

MiniSpares order should be arriving on tuesday so I'll have a big update then with any luck :).

My fiberglass rear valance did arrive but there has been a problem with it and I'm going to get that sorted before I post anything further up about it.

I'm also in the process of buying some other bits and bobs that are needed for me to finish the engine build. Once the engine is done it'll be stored up in the garage until Elliot is ready for it, she's a bit off that yet, but the front subframe will be the first thing that gets attention once the bodywork is finished up.

Thanks for looking :).

Good evening guys and girls!

First of all I have to apologise, I've been promising to document my MiniSpares order when it came in. It came in today and I unpacked everything and packed it all back away neatly in such an excited mood that I forgot to take any pictures at all. I'll correct my mistake at weekend and document it all properly :dontgetit:.

In other news. I went up to see GraemeC today, had a nice chat and bought some bits I was missing from my engine build:

Posted Image
Transfer housing breather.

Posted Image
Inlet manifold.

Posted Image
Timing cover with breather.

I'm going to start cleaning these bits up this evening ready for a coat of paint when I get time, probably...orange, haha.

Thanks for looking, and if you think I've forgotten about documenting the MiniSpares order, feel free to comment and remind me :P.

Started cleaning up the bits I got today. Started with the inlet manifold and wow, what a difference 20 mins tlc makes:

Posted Image
This...

Posted Image
...to this.

Posted Image
And the other side.

Posted Image
I wire brushed this but I think it's going to need a little bit more than the little brushes I have here.

I'm going to give the breather and the timing cover a coating of nitromors and get rid of the whole lot of paint before I go about painting them both up.

Thanks for looking, I've got some revision to do now but I might do some more work on my carb later and drop some more pictures in here.

Hehe, only took about 20 mins, most of it was just dirt.

All that faffing with those studs and they all turned out to be too long anyway :).

Just going to write up an update.

Well, here's a few pictures for you :).

Posted Image
Earlex Spraystation showed up. Had a bit of a play, feels like it should do a good job.

Posted Image
New front arches.

Posted Image
New rear arches.

Posted Image
RC40 side exit back box.

Posted Image
Closer view of the 2+1/4" rolled tip.

Posted Image
Stainless steel down pipe.

Posted Image
Y-piece.

Posted Image
LCB manifold.

Posted Image
Full system mocked up, I can already see what a pain the manifold is going to be. Will be worth it though.

Posted Image
Boot floor repair section.

Posted Image
Passenger side front floor pan section.

Posted Image
Ring driving lamps. I really like these, very nice bits of kit for the money. As they are they won't fit in my grille, but they're literally 1mm too big so I'll be getting the sand paper out to make them fit perfectly snug.

Posted Image
Gearbox gasket set.

Posted Image
Various engine bits and bobs. Clutch oil seal, timing cover oil seal, rocker cover bolt seals, new mains bearings, a center oil pickup pipe and 4 new baulk rings.

Posted Image
RC40 exhaust fitting kit.

Posted Image
Two inboard CV joint seal kits, come with the boot, two ties and a bag of grease.

Posted Image
My cooper S disc conversion. Spot what I left out of the picture :-.

Posted Image
Disc with calliper.

Posted Image
Thats right, I forgot the drive flanges, but here they are.

Rocker cover.

Posted Image
Arty tarty picture :).

Posted Image
All put back in it's box where it can be found as and when it's needed.

Now the bad news. The garage where I've been working on Elliot has had it's electicity removed down to safety issues or something, I'm not 100% on the details. Fortunatly, my friends dad is an electrician, so I'm going ask him what I need to do in order to make it safe and restore power to the garage. With any luck I'll be able to get this done before the skip moves off the drive so that working on Elliot doesn't suffer any actual loss of time.

Thanks for reading :-.

Thats the badger.

They need a bit of a polish up but looks like they'll come up nice. I was going to paint mine but I kinda feel it'd be a bit of a crime now after seeing how shiny they are.
