I didn't check up on this thread for two weeks, so I though I would get some time in with it today. Absolutely brilliant! Another hour very well spent in my view!

Please keep them coming.

John.

Hehe, is that the rally car?

certainly is  you like? tehee!

I do indeed chap! Looking forward to watching it progress in your hands :w00t:.

Looking good mate, patch, patch, patch, till it's all done, no one will see the inner sill anyway.

Have you thought about blanking off the jacking point hole on the outersill? Unless you're going to use it that is!

I have thought about it, I may wind up doing it because I don't have the silly jack for them anyway. I'm going to buy a bottle jack to keep in the boot with the spare.

Thanks alot John. Again, I'm really glad you enjoyed it and I'll do my best to keep the updates coming .

Most bottle jacks stand too tall to fit under a mini. Might be worth checking before purchasing. Remember that your car will be lower if the tyre is flat or blows out.

Thats a very good point.

I'll finish the car and see how it sits then consider my options. Can always buy a scissor jack to work with the subframes.

Either way I won't use the jacking points in the sill I don't think.

What does that go under? Rally car or the green one?

Rally car.

Green one I have to jack on the end of the brace bar 'because I can't get a jack under the front of it! But I don't have to carry a jack in that so I always have a trolley jack with me.
Actually the scissor jack probaby would go under the front subframe legs as the jack is only about 50mm high when screwed right down.

Nothing like that on eBay at the moment. As I say I think I'll leave it then consider my options when it's finished, I don't need anything fancy .

Thanks Matrix, means alot coming from someone with such a fantastic build thread. Thanks for looking in :D.

I was going to head to the garage today but the weather seemed a bit iffy so I decided I'd be better spending my time getting my Uni work done so I can get to the garage when it's sunny.

I did however go out and buy a new wire wheel and a pair of circlip pliers so that I can start stripping my gearbox so I can replace the worn baulk rings. Engine build itself is on hold at the moment as I want to know what I need for my gearbox before I order my new main shells, saves on postage.

I never look or worry to much about how bad a mini is...just what I can do to make it better again! If I stop and think to long about whats ahead I would never get started! lol completly self tought so I have made my fair share of boo boos over the years, you can't make an ommlete without breaking a few eggs and all that! lol I have always been a have a go kinda guy and try and past on my outlook to others. Keep at it dude you are doing an awesome job :P

Your off days don't seem to show Matrix, I can't see anything on your car that looks anything other than spot on.

I like that you're self taught though, just goes to show what someone can acheive if they put their heart in to it and don't give up when the going gets tough, inspiration for me :).

Thanks for the comments too :).

Well the weather has been absolutely dismal today. I did however get my coursework handed in for Uni and got my current marks and its looking like my first year has gone very well indeed. As long as I don't make an absolute mess in the exams there is no reason I can't get a first and that means my scholarship will continue next year, which translates in to more goodies for Elliot :o.

Anyway, because of the weather, I'm going to go home and start cleaning my gearbox ready for strip down. Once thats stripped down I'll order the remainder of the bits and bobs I need to get the new engine together. I'm still going to take the build nice and slowly since there is no rush for the motor to be ready before the car.

Maybe some pictures later today, we'll see.

Didn't take any pictures before but the entire gearbox was just black.

Pressure washed.

Degreraser applied and left to work.

Pressure washed and dried with compressed air.

There are still some bits that need cleaning but I'll do them by hand as I rebuild the box. Next job is to strip it down and see what needs replacing.

Thanks for looking, think I'll crawl off to bed now :shy:.
