I have had a look in the thread about fitting harnesses in the Bodyshell Fixtures and Fittings section in FAQs, but I couldn’t find the info and thought my question would get more views here.

I want to keep my the half leather RSP seats and standard seat belts for daily driving, but want to use buckets and harnesses for track days. I have a Corbeau bucket and have made an angle iron subframe that uses the standard Mini seat mounting points on the cross member and has a bar that comes down and attaches to the loop that the tilt mechanism of the standard seat attaches to. I can change the seat in about 5 minutes so having a quick attaching harness would make the job complete.

I have seen 2" long eyebolts in the Demon Tweeks catalogue and thought that they would be ideal if I could use them to replace the standard Mini seatbelt bolts. I will be replacing the bolts in the exhaust tunnel and companion bin for attaching the lap straps and the two bolts at the rear of the back seat base for the shoulder straps. I will have to drill a hole in the floor and fit a spreader plate for the crotch strap just behind the cross member but this will be hidden by the seat so wouldn't look to obvious when the harness weren't fitted. If the thread of the eyebolt is not the same I could drill the captive nuts, but I would prefer to try and find ones that fit without modifications.

your harness should connect to the captive nuts in the tunnel, rear seat, and the inner wing, you should not connect to the companion bin..

As to use these mounts you will first have to remove the existing belts, front and back, why nt just use the bolts which are already used to mount the belts in place ?

Ah, I just re-read, and understand what you are attempting to do, fix the std belts in with eyelet fixings so you don't need to remove the existing belts....

cant be sure of the top of my head but I suspect they are a 1/2" unf or 7/16" unf

Just measured one up... 7/16" UNF

seatbelt anchors all use a std 7/16 UNF thread, even in modern cars i believe.
